[G&K] Volus Civilization

In 1 collection by Pluvia
Mass Effect Collection
20 items
Description
Adds the Vol Protectorate as a Civilization, led by Din Korlack.

Din Korlack is the Volus Ambassador, the galactic representation of the Volus. Annoyed that his people aren't being fully recognised for their incredible aid and work throughout history, he'll do anything he can to make sure his people are treated with the respect they deserve

Trait: (Unified Banking Act) Gold from all sources doubled. Land melee, archer, mounted and gun units receive a 50% combat penalty.

UU: Heavy-Bomber. Replaces Stealth Bomber. Massively more expensive. Moves 5 extra spaces, costs no Aluminum.

UB: Credit Bank. Replaces Bank. Provides a +33% gold boost in city. +4 Gold and +1 Happiness.

This is the third of our planned Mass Effect civs, the Volus. Din Korlack and the Volus were the first civ we made plans for and the one I was most looking forward to creating, and frankly their unique trait we created for them all those weeks ago made us realise how varied and unique we could make each of the races. Due to their massive wealth the Volus should be able to control vast diplomatic power, making it unwise to underestimate them. As every great leader knows, wars aren't just won on the battlefield, and hey, why fight when you can pay others to fight for you?

This is a dual project and we plan on creating and releasing all these civs (in no particular order) in the near future, and hopefully you'll enjoy them. :)

Troubleshooting

  • This mod requires Gods and Kings.
  • If you have Gods and Kings and don't know how to download or activate this mod, please follow this step-by-step guide by clicking here[forums.civfanatics.com].
  • If some, but not all, of the civs downloaded, then try exiting the game and unsubscribing and resubscribing through Steam Workshop, outside of the game. Steam just acts weird sometimes.
  • If you have a Mac then Steam Workshop wont work for you. Please click here[forums.civfanatics.com] and follow the instructions.
  • If the step-by-step guide or the troubleshooting still never fixed your problem, it's a common cache issue, which can be fixed by these steps:

    1) Unsubscribe from the mod. Exit Steam and Civ 5 completely
    2) Empty your mod folder (create backups) located at: C:\Documents and Settings\[YOUR USERNAME]\My documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS
    3) Delete the 'Civ5ModsDatabase.db' file located at: C:\Documents and Settings\[YOUR USERNAME]\My documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\cache
    4) Restart steam, subscribe, restart Civ 5.

There's a BNW version, this is the G&K version.

(I'm playing on Brave New World, if that makes a big difference; I did notice that trade routes were unaffected, but I guess it hasn't been updated for that)

Um, I might be a little bit late to the party, but I've been noticing an issue with the volus where when a spot gets pillaged, it loses its gold bonus: a barbarian horseman came through, pillaged my Customs House, and now it only makes 4 gold(as much as my Salt mine!) Since the volus are naturally vulnerable to barbarians anyway, this seems grossly unfair to make them even weaker.

I'm gonna agree with Saruman of Many Colours, there needs to be a Biotic God.

Any chance of you adding this to Beyond Earth?

Still looking for someone to make a civilization from Transistor, if you play that at all.

OMG, Volus in game acted just like I expected them to. They made crazy demands and even accused me of breaking promises I never made. What a bunch of a-holes! lol

You should have added an additional unique unit: the Biotic God.

They're so cute

@MadlockFreak - They're designed to take on everyone in a team against them at once. If their science is reduced then they'll be overtaken, effectively nullifying the point in them.
