How to get Ixion to spawn (Hunt 43: Fishy Dreams)
By Nostra
Internet being full of crap as usual, the way to get Ixion to spawn tends to be quite contradictory. Save yourself the headhache by reading the proper way to do it.

Walkthrough
1) Once you have the mark, travel to Pharos. Use the elevator to reach Penumbra.
2) If you see any monster, quickly go back to the first floor. Once you're there, use the elevator once again to reach Penumbra.
3) Same old, if you see monsters, repeat 2). If you can't see any, you're good to go. Run around the shaft for a bit and it should spawn right on you. Be prepared.

Don't kill all monsters as some other guides might suggest, as it will completely confuse you as to whether or not Ixion will appear on the floor. While you're at it, try to equip Ribbons on at least your casters along with Rubber Suit. This will help a ton against Silencega and Thundaga.

Jesus christ I was literally looking for a guide in how to spawn this fartknocker and lo and behold, your guide shows up

Thank you so much, I was about to have an aneurysm. You should really edit the FF wikia entry of Ixion, IMO.

I found Diamond Armlet to be enough on 2 of my team, but I had a full 99x3 party so Silence wasn't an issue.

It's true though - if you find yourself getting swarmed by mobs then Ixion isn't there. Just keep zoning in and out via the elevator to any of the Subterra inner rings until you don't get any foes swarming you, and Ixion does teleport in after a short while.

@[CPC] Nostra - Hello! I'm here to relay information to you regarding a forum troll by the name of Daedalus. He is going around demaning Guide Authors make Serious Changes to guides so that he can gain Contributor status. He plans on Gaining Contributor status on all guides fot the ZA just please his twisted ego. He is only wanting for attention and will chuck a name and shame tantrum against you if you do not conform to his standards.

If you have any trouble with him please PM me and i'll come and sort it out with you.

Btw your guide helped me kill Ixion he was very frustrating to kill as i was underleveled at the time with poor equipment but you got me past it thankyou!

Or, just go to each floor while trying to reach the Seer, I always get him to spawn on floor 2 or 3 everytime.

I may add an improvement: Instead of cycling first floor and penumbra, go "Penumbra->Umbra->Abyss->Penumbra->so on." This way it can spawn on each zone-in. That's how I managed it, following this to base.

Didn't take it badly :P I'm almost through though, still thanks for your advice. I noticed the changes between the versions and the main wiki has been a real help mentionning the changes, but for Ixion specifically everything I read was wrong. That's why I made this guide, just in case someone has the same issue.

I see. If you need a FAQ try GameFQ's. Anything for the base game, story, hunts etc. Use the Final Fantasy XII (PS2, 2006) release. Anything not there, try International Zodiac Job System Release (PS2, 2007), The biggest overhaul for that version are the chests, which I have a guide here that covers it. Other things include item stat changes, trial mode and some other things. There is a 'Difference Guide' that goes over all the changes between the two releases which is excellent.

Wiki's are notorious for bad information, on pretty much every game. Keep in mind this game has been out since 2006. There are some minor differences from IZJS to TZA, such as making the game much easier, but not enough to make previous guides obsolete. So, your best bet is to use an old guide from the PS2 era for the most accurate information on the core game if you're stuck.

I'm not trying to criticize you, jut trying to help you out.

About the first ten results of google search, including the two wikis. In the end, I tried something random out of about an hour of pure frustration. That's when it popped.

You'll also want to spawn it in the interior rings to reduce its max HP by 50%. This mark can spawn nearly anywhere in Subterra. The only exception being Hell's Challenge obviously.

Out of curiosity what guide were you following that told you to kill anything? I've never seen a guide mention this. I actually just checked GameFAQ's to see if I could find any mention of this. I check about 8 guides.... nothing.

Pretty much all the guides for FFXII are very straight forward. This isn't an overly difficult mark to get to spawn. If you're following a guide that tells you to kill enemies to get this mark to spawn. use another guide. I suggest Split Infinity's.
