What does this mod do?
It changes the spawn point behaviour from waking up on a beach to parachuting in from high above the map. The chute will open at a minimum distance from the ground, but you can press the R key at any time before then to open your chute.

NEW: You can now control your descent using the E key to drop faster and the R key to slow your fall. Should also hopefully work with GamePad bumpers, but I don't have one to test.

NEW: Set the drop height (high, middle, low) using new INI setting.

Default Kit
You can choose to equip new survivors with a default armor and item kit for their first spawn only. The default kit has hide armor and some basic tools. You can configure your own custom kit using INI settings to configure each item (up to 16 items).

ADMIN NOTE: I've disabled spawn animations in order to get the chute drop to work properly. If you have trouble with the animations playing high in the air, you might try setting the server option yourself.

You'll parachute into the map if you spawn using the normal area spawns. Don't put a bed / sleeping bag right on a spawn point, cause the location will cause a chute drop. :-)

Use the following code in your GameUserSettings.ini in order to enable the default equipment kit for new players, or to customize the kit.

NEW: You can now add up to 16 items using CustomItem1-16 which will replace the default leather kit. You can also set the amounts for some of the item types (Ammo, Resources, Consumables). EnableDefaultKit AND EnableCustomKit must both be set to true in order for your custom items to be used.

You must use the full path as shown below for each item.

NOTE: You should be able to use items from other mods as long as you enter the full path.

The example above changes the starter kit to fur armor, and a few other items

Survival Drop is stackable, but due to it changing spawn behaviour, it requires binding to character spawn. Many mods use this binding in order to apply buffs and code to players. I'm not sure of the order in which ARK runs each binding but if another mod runs code that takes a lot of time before this one executes it may impact the spawn.

If this occurs, just move Survival Drop up in the mod order to see if that resolves it. It does NOT need to be first in load order though.

Drop supports any map, except Aberration has restrained heights. Parachuting in a cave from within a rock is not the wisest idea or even possible due to… well physics and such. I've seen a vid testing it on there and it did work, so there you go. =)

It's not really a question of possible, rather a question of feasible for the purpose of this particular mod. You can certainly build a means of tracking the number of spawns, but it's not necessary for my purposes here, and just complicates it more than I'm willing to do at this stage. Sorry bro.

Quite right Mork ... tbh id forgotten about the config line.

As for tracking the player spawns.... is it even possible in the devkit? I know its doable with Shop, currency and kits plugin... but i can only assume thats because its a plugin.

@Vesuvius - I added an INI option for getting the kit for every drop back in February, and as far as a setting to limit the number times, that would be a nope. I'd have to implement a means to track the spawns for each character, storing and saving that data, which is simply outside the scope of what I'm doing sorry.

LordGod ... the kit is a one off... Only newly created characters get it.

I realy wish the modder would add config options to make the kit spawn however many times the admin wants.... with another option to toggle it on/off for every random respawn.

So if u delete let's say welcome message will my ark msg come through then on spawn? I find my sentance us kind of long and don't have much time to read when hitting ground. Or us there a way to have my server msg to go through then the good luck survivor before you hit ground?

any chance of an option for this to also replace bed respawning. what i mean is that you can still select the bed to spawn but instead of spawning on the bed you spawn directly above it.
