How To Play as The YoRHa Commander

This guide will show you how to install the Commander Mod

This guide will show you how to install the Commander Mod

KEEP IN MIND:

• THIS WILL REPLACE 2B AS THE COMMANDER
  
• Game tends to crash sometimes when you jump due to missing animations
  
• The Commander's skin texture turns to black when in water and returns back to normal when not in water after a few seconds
  
• The game will crash more frequently with FAR installed

If you don't have the DLC

If you do not have the DLC, the installation is as simple as drag and dropping a file.
Download the mod from here: http://dennisstanistan.com/my/files/nier-automata-commander-mod.zip

Open the ZIP file, and drag data200.cpk into the data folder that is located inside NieR:Automata's directory.

Example: E:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\NieRAutomata\data

Launch the game and have fun!

If you have the DLC

Now, if you have the DLC it will require a bit of work. Fortuantely, I wrote a simple tool called NieR:Explorer which will save you the trouble of downloading 4 different tools just to swap one character.

Download the latest version of NieR:Explorer from here: https://dennisstanistan.com/#nierexplorer

As of writing this guide, the tool is in alpha. Please let me know if you are having issues with it.

And download the patched Commander files from here:

If you are paranoid them you can scan the files for viruses, if you are still not impressed and think that it's a virus then please proceed downloading the following tools:

• Python 3
  
• DAT Repacker
  
• Nier2Blender
  
• CriPakTools

And then figure this out for yourself because I am not going to explain it in this tutorial.

Anyway, back to the guide:
Extract the files from dlc-patched-commander-player-files.zip then extract the files from NieRExplorer-alpha-0-1.zip to NieR:Automata's directory (Where NieRAutomata.exe is).

Go to your Data folder and BACK UP data100.cpk in case something goes wrong.

Launch NieRExplorer.exe and locate data100.cpk


Double click on data100.cpk and the file browser should open

Find pl000d.dat and pl000d.dtt

Right click on pl000d.dat and select Import pl000d.dat

A file dialog will open, browse to the directory where you extracted the files from dlc-patched-commander-player-files.zip
And select pl000d.dat

Then right click on pl000d.dtt and select the extracted pl000d.dtt file

Both files should be highlighted in blue in the file browser

Then click on the save icon

Everything will be greyed out in the tool, just wait till a dialog pops up. It may take a while

Now you can close the tool and launch NieR:Automata!

How To Uninstall

If you don't have the DLC

Just delete data200.cpk from the Data folder.

If you have the DLC

If you backed up the original data100.cpk, delete the modified data100.cpk and move the original data100.cpk file to the Data folder.
