Hello and welcome to the FIRST ever Battlestar Galactica Shipset mod for Stellaris!

This is a minor, currently BETA (more like Alpha, but whatevs), mod that adds various ships from both the lore part and fan part of the SyFy series known as Battlestar Galactica.

Please note that this mod does not use any assets or models from the Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock game. All models are original works of art developed 5-9 years before Deadlock was even announced.

ADDONS/SUBMODS/PATCHES:

Downscaled Ships: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1175566040

Currently, the ship list is as:

Corvette: Defender Escort
Destroyer: Valkyrie Battlestar
Cruiser: Jupiter Battlestar/Galactica (armored)
Battleship: Mercury Battlestar

Science Ship: Colonial One
Construction Ship: Flat Top Ship
Colony Ship: Unknown "Colargo" Biosphere Ship
Transport Ship: Bezerk Cruiser

Fighter: Viper Mk2
Bomber: Raptor
Launcher: Shuttle

All other models, such as models for stations, are currently set as Mammalian design... hopefully this will be changed in the near future.

Compatibility:
-This mod is compatible with all DLC. And requires none to function.
-This mod is NOT CURRENTLY compatible with any mods that add or alter ship classes or mounts (such as NSC). It will eventually be compatible.
-Compatibility patch with Downscaled Ships is available in the section above.

Notices:
-This is a BETA release, and as such, prone to bugs. Please keep this in mind.
-Ships are not scaled according to BSG lore, but rather to the Mammalian shipset. This is for balance reasons, and won't be changed. (Ex: the Bezerk should be the same size as the Jupiter... but transport ships are about 1/3ish the size of Cruisers, and so it's been scaled to 1/3)
-Check the thread "Goals" in discussions for upcoming, in dev, or planned features.
-I WILL NOT be utilizing any models or textures found in the game Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock, due to issues and fears regarding copyright infringement. I will only utilize models and textures created in FAN MADE productions and mods for other games, or one created by myself or future contributers to this mod.

Known Bugs or Issues:
-All weapon fire and engine effects generate from the center of the models.
-Colonial One textures are not aligned properly to the model. I have absolutely no idea why this happening, and will be getting help from a experienced texture creator soon.
-Several of the ships are glowing... I still have no idea why. A work around fix is to disable bloom, that should remove any glowing issues.

Disclaimer:

-Battlestar Galactica, both the 2003-2004 and the 1978-1980 TV Series/Movies, and all related marks, logos and characters are solely owned by SyFy (formerly Sci Fi Channel) and NBC Universal Cable. This fan production is not endorsed by, sponsored by, nor affiliated with SyFy, NBC, Universal Television, Sky One, or any other Battlestar Galactica franchise, and is non-commercial and intended for recreational use. No commercial exhibition or distribution is permitted. No alleged independent rights will be asserted against SyFy, NBC, or Universal Television.

This mod uses NO BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: DEADLOCK ASSETS, and never will. The models inside this mod are original works of FAN ART based on the original Battlestar Galactica TV shows and Movies; made long before Deadlock was even announced. Original disclaimer stands in correlation to this.

-All (currently as of 0.3 BETA) models and textures (except some minor changes) are created by Nightstalker61 and his/her team, creators of the Nightstalker's Universe Mod for Freelancer. All rights to the models and textures are reserved to Nightstalker61 and his/her team, and any models and textures created by Nightstalker61 and his/her team will be removed at his/her request.
--I did indeed attempt to communicate with Nightstalker61, but I and many others are currently unable to contact them. They seemed to have simply finished their mod, and then dissappeared... hopefully this will help me get back in contact with them. I still have some suggestions for NSU xD

Cool Squiffy good luck man, Stellaris is a side show of a side show for me now anyways just curious sometimes, I am playtesting an unreleased game that has a BSG shipset in it.
Squiffyy Nov 24 @ 10:16am
I think I'm just going to stick with more recognizable models compared to purely fanmade stuff.
Roland Nov 24 @ 9:10am
If a Flagship model was needed my suggestion would be the Titan-A from Ravenstar/CanisD, Stryker subclass according to the BSG Fanon Wikia, (or the Poseidon) both of which have a nice schematic, it is a huge godlike brute, every bit the match of the largest Cylon ship ever postulated or modelled, The Worldstar. I am just saying these are already imaged and designed and have a built in following from TT and modeling and look like canon designs anyways. Otherwise I am pretty happy with canon ships, and Squiffy's stuff is very polished and detailed, the guy should be working for a game company probably. My only real fear is like always when it is BSG there wont be enough non-battlestars to escort the carriers for Colonials or Cylons, carriers need escorts and BSG needs the variety! Anyhoo, everyone have a pleasant thanksgiving and end of November, bless you all and be well. Thanks.

Oh I do not completely hate Deadlocks SHIPS ( the way they look is fine), it was the way they described them and play balanced ( not a real thing in war) the platforms. I thought the models looked good, and in an expansive huge shipset there would be room for many classes of all sizes, and roles of Colonial and Cylon ships, especially if it is NSC3 compatible and content. Correct again, Wolfs is defunct, CanisD unfortunately passed years ago. He had great stuff, he also did @ww2 ships era, might have been fleets. Very plausible non treaty type designs mostly. But images from Wolfs can be found I have one for wallpaper that has a few of my favorite Colonials, Google it and hit images, someone has it all stored though, the guy in New York maybe or perhaps a few of the guys who are making or made TT miniatures. I do prefer 2nd CYlon war era ships and was more interested in a 2nd Cylon war, the one in the show was not a war, it was simple decapitation and genocide.

@Roland well like I said I liked the ships from that game that are said to be pre cylon war. I just want to see those designs and styles of the individual colonies expanded on by fans. In fact is Wolf’s Shipyard still having stuff added to it?
Roland Nov 20 @ 1:50pm
Almost all the ships that Ravenstar (the best ships were made into miniatures for TT wargames) came out with, were better than anything in Deadlock that was not canon, but you are not wrong, Wolfs did also have a lot of junk from people other than CanisD, I got so sick of repetitive Battlestar designs, some were really innovative and filled tactical niches in the Colonial Fleet, but there was no need for 20 classes of Light Battlestar. We needed escorts, patrol ships and Cylons. I stopped playing Deadlock after the first DLC because it was so small and limited and had little intricacy or ability to be customized and it felt simple, they lost the rights and it got pulled from STEAM anyways so Squiffy wont have any trouble from them but he can do better than use Deadlock for inspiration. His ships are very pleasing, what I have seen.
tredavidson77 Nov 20 @ 10:40am
@Roland okay a lot I disagree with there. One I think weak in some areas thing is only there for game balance. Two, about wolf’s shipyard, not gonna a lie I don’t like a lot of their stuff. Yeah there is some cool stuff but most of it to me seems like background kitbashs or desperate slapped together ships you’d see late in the first Cylon war like the Demeter, Alert, or Hornet. Also I prefer the deadlock ships due to what the game added to lore from before the Cylon war with ships like the Heracles, Janus, and Atlas.
Roland Nov 20 @ 5:08am
@tredavidson77 the way Deadlock made ships to be weak in certain areas, it was contrived, it did not follow that you would build a ship that was inherently broken unless another ship was there to pick up the slack but they would say this ship was only built to attack such and such, then why build a limited and very predictably weak (tactically), platform? In canon you had Berserk, Galactica, Mercury, Valkyrie, and a few maybes like Guardian and Defender so not much anyways. But if you go and ignore canon and look at what folks like the CanisD made on Wolfs shipyards you will find yourself going these ships are better than anything in the shows, and there are a ton of them and they are not tm since they are publicly posted and are non monetized artistic works. I would like all the few canon ships, but I would like even more Titan-A, Fenris, Poseidon, Tiger, Ranger, Brenik, Orca, Thor, Nemesis, Horus a lot of these were models for wargaming as well so they are established.
tredavidson77 Nov 19 @ 2:01pm
@Roland any specific problems with the Deadlock ships? Like I think the colonial designs . I just think the gun placement is strange. I actually like the designs that predate the first Cylon war.
Roland Nov 19 @ 1:17pm
Ah Squiffy I am saluting you, what a trooper to stick with a project this long!
