"When a survivor dies, they leave behind a small trace of their soul in the place they died.
Other survivors have learned how to consume this soul to absorb the dead person's memories."

This mod creates a "soul" item on the ground at the location of a player's death. It can be manipulated like any standard item, and can be right-clicked and "Absorb"ed to gain the level (if higher) and perks (if higher) of the character from which it came. To reduce accidents, you can only absorb one soul at a time, so may need to expand the stack to right-click a specific one.

Initially created to add a "softcore" mode, it could also be effective in PvP servers.
