Transit Roundabout [Updated]

Description
This is a remake of my original Transit Roundabout. If you had issues with the previous version, then you should no longer see those errors. If you do please leave a comment below.

It is recommended to use Traffic Manager: President Edition but it is not required. The only required item is the 2-lane 2-way bus road by Delta 5-1, without it, this asset will break.

The screenshots displayed above present two views from the same angle. First view show what the roundabout looks like in game when implemented into an existing city. I would like to note that in the city that I took the screenshots in, I did not use TM:PE as recommended, thus also causing some backlog in the approaching intersections. The second view show the recommended layout for any buses traveling through the intersection. Because of the two-way bus lane, this allows the buses to turn left at junctions quicker, but right turns remain the same while separated from the on traffic roundabout.

My preference for ideal placement is right at the junction of two bus lines, or if you want to use this in conjunction with another transit type, you can update the roads around the intersection with the respective road type for ease of access. Best use though is with Bus/Trolley to Bus/Trolley, Bus/Trolley to Tram, or Tram to Tram. Either way, this is quite effective in a public transit heavy city, although it lacks the capacity to deal with high levels of traffic. The only way I was able to cope with this was that I upgraded the roundabout to 2-lane highways from mass transit, but that did little effort overall.

Be mindful when using this, as using it too much around your city can cause some serious issues for your traffic, unless your city is traffic free and your city uses public transit over private vehicles. Give a rating and let me know your thoughts.

While although that is a good idea, that would detract from the initial concept of this design. The concept of this roundabout was to provide a bypass for bus routes to avoid traffic in a roundabout. Replacing them with bike lane roads would make the roundabout redundant as private and industrial vehicles would use the shared road. The only way anyone could do that is use a Bus & Bike lane road, which to my knowledge there isn't any on the workshop that I would feel comfortable using in this design.

i mean yeah a bike lane version in the center instead of bus- and even complimented by a 2L roandabout with bike lanes instead of the grass sides

@Pnevma are you talking about changing the bus lane to bike lane or having the 2-lane Hwys on the roundabout be changed to bike lanes?
Neverminder Jul 1, 2022 @ 11:06am
would it be possible to make a version of this with bike lanes instead of the grass... or even bike lanes in the center?

Thanks for the info, I'm not sure how that could've happened, but I have updated the asset to be more vanilla. NET2 no longer is required same with it's dependencies, however I've had to replace the bus roads with a workshop road created by Delta 5-1. You can check the change notes for more details.

@lizkim93 what was the error you had when it broke the game? The only way I know that it could've broke was if one or multiple road types from NE2 were disabled upon game load.

This one broke in my game. I really like the idea tho

@alborzka The buses can still go straight, I've already tested it in-game (And sorry for the super late response)

This is good if every bus is going to the right, but what if a bus wants to go straight or left? The curve in the bus loop would be too sharp for them to follow :/
