That worked quite well in the past, it gives something small to players for free, and for a reasonable $9.99 or less , or more - get the whole mod pack, price it based on the size of your mod. Adding on a whole new continent is a bit different than say, adding on 1 player castle...
All in good fun... because if you don't have fun doing it and fun with the happy community, then why bother ? Go Outside and Play ! :-)
By law a youtuber or thief would be okay to earn from a mod, but the actual creator is not. It doesn't help that the developers add to this problem and eventually killing the modding community and destroying potential talent that would be excellent in the gaming industry.
I withdrawn my mods myself, I won't release new ones and I refuse any developer to get my mods so they can earn from it. Fallout 4 is largely based upon one of my mods and ideas, I never get payed for it or credited. Trust me, I know the problems.
