There is now a tab at the top of your server list.

Official servers and Public owned servers are now separated by not only the server list...

But each also has there own hive now... so you will have one character on Official servers, and one on Public owned servers...

I'm new, wut do? / Where is food and drink?

The first few steps as a fresh-spawn should be:

1. When you spawn craft a stone-knife.

2. Get hydrated and energized from a apple tree. (See links below)

3. GET OFF THE %$#@*& COAST AND GO INLAND.... NOW!!

4. Then cut a stick from a tree using the stone-knife (sharp stick is great against infected, also you can craft a spear long stick + bones = spear) Bones from chickens and other animals. As a fresh-spawn the chicken is you best bet at getting bone.

5. Then make a rope by collecting and crafting 6+6 rags.

6. Craft a bow and loot some feathers from a chicken coop and craft some arrows by cutting sticks (silent way for taking out infected).

7. Find a backpack or craft an improvised bag, Burlap sack + rope (6+6 rags = one rope).

8. Stone knife - tree - bark + stick = hand drill kit (Good to have just incase you need a fire going)

Apple trees on the outshirts of all Villages, Towns and Cities (Even in some backyards): As a fresh-spawn the first thing you should eat (10 plus)

On your way inland:

Check shirts, pants, coats, backpacks.... they have food in them sometimes and other loot.

Also... Teddy Bears ( still in from Christmas lol ) have things inside..

And Infected sometimes carry thing on them... food and loot.... but only sometimes.

After you learn the basics on survival by scavenging food you can advance to hunting and fishing.... see the guides on how to do that.

Here comes the RAIN again / Hypothermia

Yes... the rain CAN kill you... think ahead! ( Absorbency = how much water it lets in )

*What to wear:

1. Raincoat - Absorbency = 0%
   
2. Firefighter Jacket - Absorbency = 0%
   
3. Gorka E Military Uniform Jacket - Absorbency 5%
   
4. USMC Jacket - Absorbency 10%

*What NOT to wear:

1. TTsKO Jacket - Absorbency = 60%
   
2. M65 Field Jacket = 20%
   
3. Hunting Jacket - Absorbency 20%
   
4. Paramedic Jacket - Absorbency 20%

*NOTE: This is just the absorbency ratings, they also have Insulation and Bleed ratings....

What is 64bit version of DayZ / Is 64bit better?:

64bit is capable of doing more than 32-bit.... with the newer computers are running 64bit chips with 64bit operating systems... 64bit servers and games are the future.

SInce 64-bit is becoming the standard... and the Developers are aware of it... and are planning for the future of the game... they made a 64bit version

Some people crash more with 64bit...

Some people crash more with 32bit....

If you compter has the OS for it... try it.

*How many characters can I have? / My guy re-spawns all the time I change servers:

1 Character for Official Public 1st/3rd person servers

1 character for Official Public 1st person ONLY public servers per server

1 Character for Community Public 1st/3rd person servers

1 character for EVERY Private server ( so if there is say 50 private servers = 50 charcters )
*note some private servers have same hive.... so if there is a 3 server hive... one across all three servers.

1 character for Experimental Branch? ( I forget... lol.. maybe up to 4 b/c of new hives )

(And.... I think that's it.... I haven't had enough coffee / that's what "edit" is for... lulz)

*Is this game dead? / Where is everyone? I can't seem to find people:

On the Steam page the text in green at the top right will tell you how many people are currently in the game...

NOTE: There is no 100% accurate #'s so don't take them as "The Truth" but it will give you more or less an idea of how many...

The server list has a column for the level of population on a server:

Low, Medium, High, and Full.

Level	# of players for a 60 slot sever
Full	60
High	41 - 59
Medium	21 - 40
Low	0 - 20

• People wanting to survive... don't want to be seen. ( KOS only works with "S" )
  
• Since 0.61 spawn points are only East of Cherno... can be seen in Yellow.
  
• The recent heat map as of 0.62.... can be seen in Red.

Now you know where everyone is....

( very, very unofficial ):

# 0. - Because DayZ Standalone... that's why. (IE: DayZ Logic)
# 1. - Don't get attached to your Gear / Stuff.
# 2. - Eat apples... they feed you and hydrate you both.
# 3. - You will die. (It happens... often... get over it and respawn)
# 4. - The next patch will be out when it is.... stop asking! (and it's not going to "save" the game)
# 5. - Get off the coast and head inland.
# 6. - Everyone Most people who say they are "friendly"... arn't.
# 7. - Be weary of the infected ("Zombies") / wolves, bears... Fear the living.
# 8. - YES, EVERY #$@^& WEDNESDAY THE SEVERS GO DOWN FOR MAINTENANCE... no, it's not "just you"
# 9. - If you eat someone... you will die... that's opposite of surviving.
#10. - This game is not "broken"... it's Alpha and not a game yet.
#11. - Raincoats are a must have. (yes, even the pink ones)
#12. - A stone crafted makes a stone knife to makes rags and stuff. (take this, it's dangerous out there..)
#13. - The "best" gun in game everyone wants... isn't one... only the Mil Sim Kiddies think so.

Nina's "to" is correct. Rick had a compulsion to point out a misspelling in Shiney's excellent guide - Rick had 'to' do it. As a compulsive responder I recognized his intent immediately.....uh, not exactly a positive insight into my own behavior

My teasing comment was in relation to her putting a period inside the double quotes instead of outside them. British is outside, American is inside.

Jeez, does this mean we are all more informed?..........lol

BTW, Nina's command of English is several magnitudes superior to most peoples' command of any of the languages spoken in Finland. I never thought she was not primarily an English speaker until I looked at her profile. Once again being a monolingual American has humbled me when interacting with the rest of the world.
