Nevid [WIP]

!! Note: I've separated files into separate PBO's and moved some things into a separate mod(cring0's Map Assets). I've done this so that I can use the same content with multiple terrains, eliminating duplicate content, and reducing size of terrain mod. This means less downloading for end-user for every update. Also, others can use some of my content on their terrains if they wish. !!

If anyone sets anything up with this terrain and makes a video, I would love to see them!

This was just an experiment with a 1.5m terrain cell size. Generated heightmap in L3DT, did most of the work in one day. I didn't intend to do much with this but it ended up sucking up a lot of my time. I hope you'll like it.

Map Size: 1.5km

Terrain Builder settings:

Grid Size: 1024x1024
Cell Size: 1.5
Terrain Size: 1536
Sat image size: 1536
Tile size: 512
Desired overlap: 16
Texture layer size: 48

If you experience low frames, I would suggest turning your view distance down to around 1km. If you need to be able to see further than that, this terrain might not be ideal for what you're doing. This began as a test for a 1.5m terrain cell size and how it would perform, so any feedback would probably be helpful, not only to myself, but to other terrain makers. However, there are a few factors that affect performance including: system specs, in-game video settings, x86 vs x64 game executable. The terrain may just not run well on "lower end systems".

TIP: If you are running nVidia and experience radical frame fluctuations, screen tearing etc. you may want to look into using nVidia's Adaptive Vsync over Arma's vsync. https://www.geforce.com/hardware/technology/adaptive-vsync

My lowest frames while driving around are usually around 50fps.

Beautiful multiplayer PVP terrain! improve the architecture aspect.... alla mediterranean or all tropical

I mentioned something on BR discord, I haven't updated it since last xmas so shouldn't be Nevid. Unless I need to update the keys for some reason.

Thanks. BTW I'm working on a newer version of this terrain which will be larger(6km). I've moved the main island away from the edge of the map, lowered the elevation in a lot of places, changed up a few things, added barrier islands, overwash and salt marshes.

The updated version will actually be released as a separate workshop release, that way I'm not screwing up any missions anyone has set up for this release. However, since I'll still be using the separate Map Assets addon for textures etc. the terrain itself won't be large in disk size.

I'll probably be naming it Cape Nevid and tying it into a lore world with my other work.
