47 Hours played
Cyberpunk

I've just completed 100 hours (also played on my friends account) of gameplay, achieving a 100% completion rate on hard difficulty. I've tackled every NCPD Scanner, every single gig, side job, and even ventured into activities like boxing and racing. I've hardly used fast travel, perhaps only around ten times. It's been an intense three-month journey, and I feel compelled to share my thoughts in this review.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

**State of the Game:**

Before diving into the details, it's important to acknowledge that the game is still somewhat buggy and flawed. If you approach it with the intention of having fun, you can certainly find enjoyment. However, it's hard to ignore the signs of a rushed and unpolished finish, which are more prevalent than one would expect from a triple-A title. Nevertheless, it's in a better state than its initial release, with improved stability.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

**Combat: 9/10**

The combat system is a mixed bag, with elements of both brilliance and frustration. Gunplay is an absolute blast, and the stealth mechanics add tension to missions. Quick hacks are innovative and become powerful as you progress, although their utility is somewhat limited. Unfortunately, bugs can be infuriating and make you want to quit.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

**NCPD and GIG Content: 6/10**

After a few hours of diving into NCPD missions and gigs, it becomes apparent that they follow a rinse-and-repeat pattern. While the scenarios may vary in appearance, the core objective remains largely unchanged: get in, accomplish the task, and get out. The presentation of the Gig system was underwhelming. However, the repetitive content didn't bother me as much because each job location presented unique challenges, especially when playing as a Netrunner.

One significant issue is that much of the content feels disjointed, as if it were developed in isolation without much overlap with other systems. I maxed out my street cred within the first 20-30 hours, while my character level lagged behind. The system's balance feels off.

The Fixers, despite strong characterizations, seem disconnected from the world of Night City, which detracts from the overall experience. It's puzzling why these Fixers couldn't have taken on a more central role in the game's side job cast, providing a compelling narrative to accompany their activities. Progression scenes, drama, variation, and cutscenes are sorely needed to breathe life into the numerous intriguing characters. Without these, the game's content feels hollow and ultimately inconsequential.

**Main Story: 8**
**Main Side Jobs: 8**

The main story introduces an array of fascinating characters with brilliant lines and personalities, but there's a noticeable gap where the connection between NPCs and the world should be. The presence of Johnny Silverhand adds an extra layer to the narrative, but it often feels contrived, detracting from the stakes of the story.

The potential for a more cohesive and engaging narrative, one that involves all the game's characters, is evident. Unfortunately, it falls short, and the buildup is minimal. The writing varies from being extremely engaging in some scenes to boring in others. The game could have benefited from more seamless integration of the main side job characters into the primary story.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

**Environment: 8**

The game's environment is a highlight, offering an immersive experience. The variety of locations, details, and the genuine feel of the people in Night City make exploration enjoyable. The consistent use of character vernacular and technology integration adds to the immersion. However, the game's use of text messages as a means of communication can feel like a missed opportunity for more meaningful interactions.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

**Overall: 9/10**

In summary, the game warrants a 7/10 from me. While it provides fantastic moments and an engaging experience, it's marred by issues stemming from its troubled launch. This game is not a write-off; it offers enjoyable hours with engaging dialogue and emotional moments. Despite its unfinished feel, the combat systems and character interactions make it worthwhile. It has moments of brilliance, but the overall depth falls short of expectations.

I recommend playing Cyberpunk 2077 for the moments of humanity and the emotional journey it offers. The game is a mix of CD Projekt's greatness and technical shortcomings, but it's an experience that is difficult to forget.

Thank you for reading, and I'll see you in cyberspace!
