I wish there was an "in between" selection:

Not great, not terrible. If this game had any other theme than WH40k it would not be nearly as successful. I WANT to like this game but its enemy variety and gameplay is repetitive and gets old fast. The weapon variety is also lacking and does not feel as "punchy" as it should. Enemies do not have any sort of real strategy and can mostly just be ran past without any real consequence besides the level end screen not showing 100% enemies killed. (I dont care for completing levels 100% anyways)

The major criticism that everybody seems to share is that there is no minimap. I agree that no minimap is slightly frustrating and leads to some serious backtracking in an attempt to understand what you are meant to be doing, but on the other hand, I sort of enjoy that feeling of exploring aimlessly and figuring out where to go. But to each their own, I understand that this may not be a popular opinion.

Aside from the stuttering, the game is incredible! The combat feels fluid and satisfying, and the story wasnt bad either. I appreciate that the devs included side missions to add more for those who are returning players, but I felt like they were kind of shoehorned in. I wish it was fleshed out abit more but, considering that the rest of the game is a masterpiece, I can't complain too much lol.

The one obvious negative that everybody points out is the constant stuttering in game. Aside from that, I felt like "Impossible Mode" was too easy, and should have included more challenges to the player. I would suggest maybe reducing the amount of ammo dropped from enemies, and increasing the amount of damage taken by a smidge. In the early chapters of my run, I thought the difficulty was scaled fine, but as I continued to upgrade my armor and weapons (I used the plasma cutter and ripper only) it just felt too easy. Maybe in future DS remakes, they should implement some type of scaling in harder difficulties.

Also, here is a fun fact/spoiler: If you take the first letter of all the chapters in the game, it spells out NICOLE IS DEAD

I rate this game a 9.5/10 :)

I would definitely recommend this game to anyone who enjoys survival horror. I will say though that there are a few shortcomings to this game. Here are a few notable ones I noticed:

1. For a game that is clearly very focused on FPS action, the FOV is way too narrow. I completed the game on Village of Shadows difficulty and found myself getting frustrated over enemies that you SHOULD be able to notice. I understand that the developers did this intentionally to simulate a more claustrophobic experience, but there are times where this FOV is just a hinderance. I would suggest perhaps having moments in the game (House Beneviento especially) where the FOV tightens.

2. The game feels too easy. So far, I have completed it on Casual, Standard, and Village of Shadows (I probably won't do it on hardcore since I have the achievement for it already). With the unlimited ammo bonus content, Village of Shadows difficulty becomes somewhat of a joke. With the exception of a few moments of course (The initial lycan attack and Mother Miranda, which tbh, was more of me not recognizing her attack patterns. It probably would have been easier.) I would definitely recommend either the hardcore or Village of Shadows difficulty nonetheless if you want a truly tense experience.

3. If Ethan Winters were a spice, he would be flour. I could not really care too much about his story, and

I was ecstatic when Ethan "dies" the first time. "Finally!" I thought, "Something interesting happens, maybe Chris picks up where he left off and saves Rose. That would be cool!". Turns out I was partially correct as all of you who have played the game know. I hope we get to play as the boulder-punching bastard we all know and love when RE 9 is released. It definitely feels like the direction the series is taking, which I am totally okay with.

4. This last one might just be a "me" thing, but it feels like the pacing of the game is rather off after Castle Dimitrescu. I will definitely say that the first "chapter" of the game is my favorite. Castle Dimitrescu is beautiful, and I spent alot of time in my first playthrough taking in the sights (If you know what I mean).

Overall, the game punches my boulder. 9/10
