Destiny 2 is a looter shooter game. It also happens to have really good art directory and has some beautiful design for planets and space. Its music is insanely good and reeally gets you in the right mood. The gun play is really good in my opinion and id say the recoil is very "noob" friendly as it isnt that harsh. Sadly there is always a negative and that just happens to be that some of the best weapons comes from playing PvP meaning some of the best weapons for raids and strikes come from playing PvP.

In general its a really fun game that has a really good universe built around it if you like that sort of stuff and i would highly recommend getting the game as its free and if you like it after trying it for free I would really recommend buying atleast shadowkeep.
