Far better than the minority of negative reviews are making it seem. Intriguing story with plot twists that aren't too confusing, tense atmosphere and effective jumpscares that aren't overused. The voice acting was surprisingly good, and I enjoyed how they utilised the Unreal engine to create their style of horror. Definitely worth a playthrough. This is one of the best out of all the indie horror games I've played over the last 10 years. Very underrated game.

This chapter was heavily overrated on release, it's a very average puzzle game with elements of horror and and a quirky art style. Now, I wouldn't be writing a negative review at all if I got this chapter for free. However, they had the audacity to charge money for their first customers, and Chapter 2 is twice the price. So effectively I've paid for a free product and don't get a discount on Chapter 2? MOB Games can suck it.

Don't let the reviews put you off. The game had a difficulty patch in 2018 and let me tell you:
While this game isn't perfect; I've never played one that is, it was much better than I expected it to be given its ratings.
The narrative is brilliant, the graphics create a complimenting deep-see atmosphere full of isolation and fear,
and the the story that you navigate is well written and incorporated into the gameplay.
My only criticism would be the implementation of its combat mechanic, which would've been better off not existing.
One of the best indie games I've ever played.

Astoundingly boring and more often than not it's not a horror game, it's just a very presentable walking simulator full of tedious tasks such as taking a photo, reading the newspaper or learning morse code. Most of the cutscenes are pretentious and are just looking for shock value. The most fun I had, which was shortlived, was admiring the presentation of the gorgeous environments and graphical fidelity. The last time I saw this much hype lead to this much failure was the release of Cyberpunk 2077. The abundance of positive reviews are just as misleading as the content of the game itself.

I've played and enjoyed all of Truchowski's games, and these experiences have demonstrated to me what he has learned within game design over the years. This being the latest release proves that he's not applied himself to this game very well at all. The entire experience feels cheap and about as amateur as a free horror game from GameJolt. Definitely not his best work.

I'll start by saying that I've always adored good indie horror games, when you can find them among the many bad ones. I've played all of Chilla's Art titles and they are very hit or miss. This game is unfortunately a miss.
Presentation is an eyesore and an injury to the gameplay. Darkness is too dark, brightness is too bright. More often than not you can see very little either way. I walked past the first NPC you have to interact with 6 times because the lighting is so poor. This game also has a terrible implementation of SSR, everything looks like its covered in poorly rendered vaseline and it's nauseating. The VHS filter, while I can appreciate its efforts to create an atmosphere, makes the game look worse in my opinion. I've seen better attempts in many other titles, including Chilla's.
It is also alarmingly obvious that there was very little play-testing, as the game is riddled with soft-locks, unintuitive gameplay where you are simply expected to figure out unexplained mechanics and scripted events, and in the first map after walking out of the apartment complex, straight to the far left there is a closed door that you can walk straight through into an incomplete apartment. This happened within the first 3 minutes of playing.
To mention the horror aspect, there is none. A handful of cheap jumpscares, a half-baked atmosphere and unintentionally goofy encounters with NPCs make this experience more of a parody. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this game from Chilla. There are still other games from this studio that are worth your time and money, but not this one.
I still respect this small indie studio and their accomplishments, and hope they find their stride again in their next title.

Early Access Review
I wish I could recommend this game. But I also wish that the developers could be honest about the development about this game, as their paying customers have the right to see the evidence of all their monthly empty claims that never see their way into the game. WRATH had so much potential. Spend your money elsewhere. HROT, PRODEUS, DUSK, ULTRAKILL, Bombshell. All the aforementioned games have honest developers and consistent updates.

I've been tempted to play this game since before its release, but I've held off due to the large scale of negative reviews regarding the game mechanics and updates. It didn't justify the asking price. However, I was fortunate to try this game for free. Here are my thoughts:

From a visual perspective, the graphics are impressive. It does create a nice gritty, survival atmosphere IMO. The performance is acceptable, albeit not the best. I can't really fault this aspect of the game.

The mechanics are by far this game's biggest downfall. I'll start by saying that the gun mechanics are actually well polished. It was fairly satisfying and responsive. I've not played prior to the inventory update. However, as many others have echoed, the new system is too cumbersome, especially for a multiplayer survival. It takes too long to assign weapons and consumables, and it gets tedious having to re-assign items repeatedly. Driving mechanics for bicycles is terrible. You often fail to gain speed practically, unless driving downhill. Too often I catch my wheel on nothing obvious and fall off, only for the player's physics to glitch into the bike. It's a very unpolished and impractical mechanic as of now, which was very disappointing.

Gameplay is very lacklustre. It consists merely of a bland "A to B" system. Go here, kill enemy, find objective, rinse and repeat, as well as a very generic resource and apparel system. There is no endgame, and there is ultimately no satisfaction in this repetitive system. Very un-intuitive and lacks encouragement to play. I wish there was more to say about it, as I'd hoped it'd be so much more in a game with this much ambition.

The AI for the robots was a huge letdown. I was expecting such intimidating androids to be more intelligent and strategic. However, their awareness system is inconsistent, it's a gamble as to where and why you are spotted. In cover, sometimes they can shoot you but not vice versa. They lack mobility and often just stand out in the open, firing at you. It is simply unacceptable that at times they can spot and shoot you whilst in a safehouse. It completely defeats their purpose and it's surprising that, of all this game's flaws, this issue still hasn't been patched.

In conclusion, I was concerned that I would not like this game, but I was really hoping that I would. I had extremely high hopes for this game upon it's first trailer release and had anticipated its availability. It's devastating to see the state this game is in after half a year since its launch. There is so much potential present in the current content this game has to offer, but at the moment it's merely a husk. I cannot recommend this game at this time.

It's a small but promising training sim. The graphics and mechanics are fairly polished for its price. Performance isn't the best. Unfortunately, I experienced 2 crashes in under 30 minutes. It's a shame there are no upcoming. patches. Can't recommend.

What can I say? You've heard it all. This game is classic gold, ahead of its time. I recommend this over the sub-par Source port.
