Zero-K is such a good RTS that it has made my view of almost any other RTS paled. Many RTS can offer the scale of Zero-K, many can offer the variety of units and replayability, but so far, not a one offers near the level of unit control that I have come to adore in this game. Like almost all RTS, units can be set to command groups. Unlike any others however, units can be moved in even spread lines, in formation, and beyond that, they even have projectile-dodging AI built in so that you don't have to spend endless micro dodging shots. It is this feature that makes it difficult for me to enjoy any other RTS to the same degree. I've played years of Star-Craft, Warcraft III, and Age of Empires, and while I no longer play these games much, I just can't put Zero-K down.
All multiplayer matches are recorded on their forum, so want to re-watch an epic old fight? Go for it. Or better yet, watch the best players in the world and learn to play instantly. It's simply incredible.
All of this, and it is completely free. I will be singing this game's praise to everyone who will lend me an ear.
Thank you dev team.

Very cool fun gameplay, and once upon a time you could self host just like minecraft, running a server file and port forwarding. They then decided, ♥♥♥♥ that actually, you know whats way better? Forcing you to get it through a steamcmd, having no in game interaction, making it an absolute ♥♥♥♥♥ just to host for you and your friends. Why would you straight up downgrade the user interface? You had a better system before and actually shot yourself in the foot. I used to play this game with my small group of friends and have a whale of a time, and now, I'm going through the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ pain in the ass that is going through all this ♥♥♥♥ just to host for my boys. Wouldn't have been so upset if it wasn't actually better before.

The best feature is multiplayer campaigns, finally allowing a total war style strategy with more than just two players. The game is very moddable, and the community is apt to take advantage of that fact. There is some slight desync issues as the game drags on, but at least in vanilla it is fixable by just rejoining. Modded you may be screwed. The developer hasn't given up on it and is still releasing updates, so I am excited to see how this progresses.

Absolute tons of fun. If you enjoy sanbox games, or even the FPS world, this game will be great for you. It has a wonderful system, the lack of more guns is a bit of a strain, but otherwise it is great. The community is almost always helpful, and with community maps you'll never run out of new things to do. Overall, I'd give it... an 8/10 score. The only reason it is not 10/10 is that it doesn't have as many guns as you may desire, and the way of building is a bit of a strain aswell. Otherwise, completely perfect.

It is an amazing strategy game were you take command of a species to lead them to galactic victory. It has a very well designed economic system, a clean unhappiness system, and an amazing diplomacy system, even with AI. There is, however, one MAJOR flaw. The game has a bug where : If you attack an enemy colony, and do not choose to auto calculate the battle, the screen goes to the desktop exept for a GUI overlay. Then, after the battle is over, and the screen will remain black with a GUI overlay. Any text or windows that appear on the black screen will stay there even after closing them. Furthermore, saving the game and rebooting it does not help. Unless you plan on victory without fighting, you simply cannot win.
