Apart from the server issues in the first couple of days, I have thoroughly and utterly enjoyed my time with this game so far. Since then, the devs have been working hard to get everything under control and I personally haven't had any big issues besides a minor bug like a lootbag getting stuck in some corner or whatever.

Honestly, don't let the review score for this game fool you into thinking it is a bad piece of software or whatever. The combat is snappy, the stealth feels way better than any previous Payday game and the music is, as in every title of this series, absolutely immaculate and perfectly fitting for every heist that you're running on stealth or loud.

I truly and fully believe this game is going to be as good, if not better than Payday 2 with due time. Everyone crying about it having less content than the second installment has obviously never played Payday 2 on launch, probably only toward the latter years when 50+ DLC had already been released to pump it up.

To conclude this review, if you're unhappy with how the game is right now or you're uncertain due to the bad reviews or news you heard from other people, then wait a couple of months or even a year. Give the game time to get into the state you feel is worth your money and your attention and then give it a try. I already really enjoy my time with it and was patient enough to wait out the first couple of days of server issues and I've been rewarded with a really fun and thrilling game to sink a stupid amount of hours into over the next years together with a couple of friends who feel the same way.

Shoutout to the developers and social media managers (looking at you Payday Twitter guy) who have to deal with the brunt of the anger and oftentimes pretty pathetic comments thrown their way from people who have an unhealthy relationship with video games. Keep up your strength in answering the same 5 questions on stream over and over and in shrugging of the crap thrown your way.

So for those deciding to wait, hopefully see you later. And to those playing right now, let's get that money.

You don't need to be a genius or hardcore video game player to enjoy your time with Darktide, just grab some friends, enter some low difficulty missions and laugh with your friends while cutting or blasting your way through hordes of cultists, mutants and heretics. No need to know all the 40k lore, no need to sit down and spend days trying to master game mechanics, no need to dedicate hours each time you want to play. Just a downright really fun game to play casually with your friends or by yourself.

I could go on like so many others about the games performance or connectivity or whatever but honestly, having played Vermintide beforehand, I know Fatshark will fix things over time and keep working to put the game into a better state. But even as it is right now, I would recommend it. It's easy fun that doesn't need to be treated like a second job and, while maybe not running smooth, it is running on my budget PC from 5 years ago well enough for me to play without having any disadvantage and still adore the games aesthetic, mechanics and details.

Oh and the OST slaps really hard. Seriously, give it a listen.

I love almost everything about this game. From the serious battle moments to the goofy encounters you have with bards, fist fighters and all sort of pranksters. The sound design is satisfying, the controls feel good and the violence is excellent. There is little I can flaw about the gameplay.

The only issue I have with this game is that the community is half those fun and cool people and half complete degenerates. If you're easily annoyed, it might be best to just ignore the chat at all times.

Mentall Illness is actually cool!

For real though, this is a lovely, short game about the struggles of a mentally ill person that they face daily. The visuals are haunting but beautiful and the soundtrack is utterly droning in a way that befits the games topics and themes. If you got an hour or two to spare and don't shy away from heavy topics, give this one a try

There is so much to say about this game but at the same time, there isn't. This is not a game about a hero, saving the world and gracing everyone with their divine presence. This is the story of a little bar called VA-11 Hall-A or "Valhalla", its patrons, its owner and especially of one of the employees called Jill.

The player takes the roll of Jill in this story, making sure she has money for bills, things she might want to buy and to make sure she serves the right drinks to the patrons of Valhalla, which isn't as easy as it might sound considering the patrons aren't always as specific with their orders as they could be.

Speaking of the patrons, Jill has to deal with all kinds of people from Glitch City. From a smart and romantic hacker to an unseeming private detective over to a sexbot that doesn't even look old enough to stay up after midnight. Her co-worker and boss aren't any less strange as well as the bar seemed to attract those type of people.

Overall, this game has to be one of the most relaxed games I have played in a long time. That doesn't mean it is boring by any means though. As mentioned in the beginning, this is not the story of a glorious hero who defeats evil but rather the story of a normal girl who has to deal with bills, fears, weird events and blasts from the past. It's not always sunshine and rainbows for Jill and she knows that.

Music, visuals and character development are all stellar, coupled together with an incredibly interesting world and relatable moments make this a must-have for everyone that can take a step back and relax while playing a game. I surely will replay this many times as its many little quirks and characters have grown on me swiftly.

On the negative side, all I can say is that I ran into a small bug or two but nothing that a reload or restart of the game couldn't handle. Both were sound issues that happen if one was to go too swiftly through the game by smashing the spacebar. (Pro tip, don't do that. Why would you even do that?)
