Hi ooktar,
As you own a collection " Metroidvanias" to highlight new games in steam greenlight . I was wondering whether you could add our game to the list. We have released a new game “Elephant Splash”, a tower defense modeled action game in Steam Greenlight. Would be great if you could find some time to take a look at the game and see if it is worthy to be added to your collection.

Appreciate your time.

Thanks

hey! I know, I think they closed to pre-orders so they know how many steam keys to get. I dunno, just a guess, but I tried this and it worked: http://www.humblebundle.com/store/product/roguelegacy?preview=EXn3mzwCJtTl

No problem, I'm glad to know my post was useful and didn't go to waste. That guy just needs to learn not to treat his potential customers like ♥♥♥♥. Lying to people and refusing to allow criticism is no way to go about trying to gain fans.

I just want to say thanks for your helpful and informative post that got you banned from the minerwars forum, I almost bought the game but thankfully read your post first. :) What a jerk that guy is, I'm glad I didn't give him any money.

And also, thanks for your help. :)

Sure enough, he deleted my thread and banned me from the forum. I did manage to make a screenshot of the thread though, before he killed it. Right now it's in the artwork section of the game, here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=133652408 .

Worse yet, I created a thread in the Help and Tips section trying to bring attention to the matter, and the moderator in that forum told me that "moderator actions are not discussed in the forums" and then locked the thread there, too: http://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/828934424028111312/ .

It's pretty disheartening if this kind of matter can't even be discussed anywhere in the Steam forums. It seems to me that Valve may be o.k. with allowing developers to have this sort of unchecked authority.

I updated my support ticket, which would be the last option for official help from Steam. I'm not too hopeful but maybe something will come of it. Let me know if you hear back from any of those gaming sites.

Thanks much. I have submitted a ticket myself as well, so maybe that will have some effect (I haven't had any luck at all with Steam support in the past, unfortunately). I read the comments in the RPS story as well, and yeah, I guess the hope is that maybe someone from that site or another will take enough of an interest to write about it. I've looked into other Steam forums as well, and honestly this is becoming a pretty serious issue with moderators across the site - locking threads and banning members for reasons that are spurious at best.

I know the ban is only for the Miner Wars section and not Steam-wide. But still, it seems like a pretty major issue to me: That forum doesn't belong to Keen Software or Marek Rosa, it belongs to Valve. And so the rules you have to follow are Valve's rules and not his. So he should not have the power to ban you (or even to lock your thread) if you aren't violating any of Valve's rules.

Ok. I guess for me I worry that, because the threads are locked and the OP's are banned, eventually the threads will fade from view and go unseen by others, which is just what the developer intends.

The biggest problem, though, is that you were locked and banned even though you clearly did not violate any of the Steam Community rules and guidelines. This is a major problem if Valve allows that sort of behavior to continue - so that eventually developers may just start banning people left and right simply for criticising their games.

Anyway, if you do report it to Valve and get some sort of response (or no response at all), please let me know. Maybe there's a site like RockPaperShotgun that would write about this if it becomes enough of a problem.

@ThreeSon I was considering it, I'm not too sure how much it will help but it doesn't hurt to try. In the end by locking threads and banning people, he's proving everyone's points about him censoring people and not being open to criticism.

Hey. I noticed you were banned from the Miner Wars forums for calling out the developer and his abusive behavior. Have you sent a message to Steam support about this?
