The combat is great. It's very engaging and rewarding. However, I don't like how it hides important items and upgrades. And figuring out where to go and what to do was a bit difficult. It just makes new players struggle unnecessarily, on top of just getting to grips with how everything works. Playing with a guide is almost required, if you ask me.

People say this game is hard. I don't agree. Well... not compared to Bloodborne or Sekiro anyway. This game feels fair. It just makes sense to me. I struggled with Bloodborne, and I started Sekiro recently. Those games got difficult very quickly. This game is definitely more forgiving. It's not easy, but it doesn't feel unfair either, which is quite rare for this sort of game. When I die in this game, I rarely feel like I was cheated or killed by jank. Some bosses feel tough to beat, taking most of the healing items to beat, only to find it has another phase. At first I thought there's no way of beating it. But after a few tries and learning its patterns, it becomes a lot easier. I love this about Lies of P. I haven't finished it yet, but I'm level 50 and still going strong, and still very much enjoying this game.

As a programmer, I adore this game. I love that there's no "correct" solution to any puzzle, and that it doesn't force a particlular strategy. It lets you develop your own style of problem solving, just like with real programming. It's also a lot more compelling than actual programming.

In terms of content, there's definitely enough to keep you busy, and there's a good amount of difficulty, so you won't just blaze through all the puzzles. There are also user created puzzles, so there's definitely no shortage of content.

If someone asked me to teach them programming, I'd tell them to go play this game to learn how to get into the mind set of a programmer and problem solver.

I've been using Leadwerks for a few years now and I must say, it has a lot of potential. I really like the pricing model and I think it's great value for the price. It's great for both new and experienced game developers. You can create some really atmospheric games with its lighting and shadows, and with the addition of post-processing effects, like bloom and SSAO.

It does a lot of things right, but would I recommend it for professional projects?

...No. I just couldn't recommend it for any commercial project. It's not ready for that yet, in my opinion. I think it relies too much on the default game template. A blank project just doesn't feel like the start of something new and different. You feel like your only choice is to make first person games with a human protagonist. When you try to go outside its bounds, you find yourself running into complications that you'd expect to be commonplace in a game engine. But if you intend on making a walking simulator or first person puzzle game, you should be fine for the most part.

TLDR;
I highly recommend it for small projects and prototypes, but not for commercial projects.

If you liked Terraria, but ran out of things to do, this game is perfect for you.

Unlike Starbound and Terraria, you feel a sense of accomplishment when you level up your character.
Leveling you character gives you something to do, even when there isn't actally a whole lot you can do.
There isn't much to do yet (still in early development) and the digging is very slow and tedious at the start, which will annoy those who easily get bored.
