Sounds like you played ZPS in the infamous cabin/lake/church, if you'd like to give it another try you should try official maps, probably Objective/ZPO

Those maps are just as you described, it's worth noting in official maps survivors don't spawn with a lot of stuff, while there's powerful stuff around humans have to find it (And since it's not a camping place you can't just drop something and get another thing quickly).
