"The Ultimate Box" doesn't have the upgraded graphics, but it does have the option to play with no online account. As of this writing, steam doesn't offer this version anymore, which is too bad.

It's a simple hack-and-slash, with special attacks and bosses, and a thin story. Basically no strategy involved. And of course, a scantily-clad female protagonist. If that isn't what you want, you don't like the game. But if you just want to mash buttons and kill things, it's fun.

Also, since the game doesn't make this clear: there are two possible endings to the story determined by your character development choices.

Fun shooter, good difficulty gradient. My only complaint is that the game is a bit short.

Buy when on sale.

The game is a fun at first, with interesting physics puzzles to solve.

But then it gets stupid, with puzzles that are more about reaction time and your ability to deal with lots of things going on all at once, than physics problem solving.

Not recommended due to this bait-and-switch.

What does a person do when departing from others, in order to relax in solitude?

A fun overhead-view twin-stick game. Each character has a very different playstyle with extra variety built in as you unlock different weapons for them. Multiple difficulty levels too.

The game is also simple. It isn't some in-depth role playing game. Its just a dungeon-crawler, with the primary element being slaughtering crowds of monsters. Before too long, you have seen it all.

It is a good game, but beware! The company has a history of re-designing the interface and taking away popular features. On 6/17/2016 they took away the super-useful "My Tables" feature, and forced you to sift through their complete list of tables in order to find the ones you had paid to unlock (every time you wanted to play!). After a LOT of complaining and bad reviews from their user base, they finally gave that feature back, which is why I changed my review back to recommend.

That aside...

I like this much better than Pinball FX. The ball physics feel more accurate (including the fancy tricks like stopping a moving ball with a flipper rather than just bouncing it back). A lot of tables are available, covering a wide range of difficulty levels, and you can try all of them for free.

Apparently, some players have completed this game without killing anyone.

What is WRONG with these people???

Attain inner peace through spaciousness, and murder.

This game is more relaxing than challenging. Combat does not have an arcade feel at all, mostly you just turn your guns on and click a new target each time your current one explodes. The challenge is in building your ship well, not your twich skills.

My only complaint is that the music lacks variety, so I turn it off and play my own spacey music through windows media player.

I am normally not a fan of the tower-defense genre. This game gets it exactly right. This is the most fun I have ever had playing this sort of game.
