I have more hours than I wish I did in this game, and I think it has to be said since they have tried to minimize the community once again. A lot of the negative reviews as others have said have been from a community that has been silenced far too long with the disappointment of their work. They started with a great product but failed to maintain it and had a lack of vision of what they wanted the game to be. I agree with many that there is a large part of this due to the corporate side, which to be fair will control the quality of pretty much everything because they hire the people who will hire everyone else. I also think there is a misinterpretation what is meant by the devs. I think most include any non-corporate people part of the dev team and the director, lead devs and etc. are the ones that approve and probably choose the direction of patches based on employees suggestions however, that's assuming they are good leaders and listen to that sort of thing. We all know based on a lot of our employment history that there are plenty of bosses out there which take things in the direction they wish without any care of what the other employees want.
All in all I think there is definitely fault within the devs to based on some of the basics not being followed and finding progression in more appropriate ways. They definitely are good at moving forward and have had ups and downs. The biggest issue being they dont look at the downs and fix them very well. So they built a foundation but they've left many weaknesses with improper maintenance building ontop of it.

So just altogether a great foundational game that wasn't maintained properly, just very poor management, and an altogether poor company. I imagine Microsoft will be restructuring the company. Dev team is widely incompetent, and makes the same decisions over and over, awful.

I tried. I tried so hard to like it, but I found the combat quite lacking. It is missing a lot of important considerations, one of which is ping differences between players. I understand the appeal for fast actions between attacks, parries etc. However, it just doesn't work well at least for me. Besides with the ping differences with how fast the actions are. People appear to be parrying and swinging at the same time; Half the time I wouldn't even see the animations before they affected me, so knowing what your opponent is doing in these situations is pretty unreliable, so unless you like to guess what is actually happening on their screen I wouldn't recommend it.

I think they also added horse combat in before it was ready because it has the same issues as the regular combat but exacerbated, due to it be at a higher speed and the issues the horses themselves have.

As much as I commend the attempts by smaller companies, I think it's important to section out areas that there are limitations and perhaps taking those into consideration.

As I have seen on a small scale how difficult it is to get an mmo to work in Unity, I commend them for it.

The game had some very positive qualities though as I played it. I found the detail they put into crafting to be appealing. I didn't enjoy the game enough to take it to a point to see how the linear progression of crafting quality (linear meaning, having tiers where each tier upgrade within the crafted gear is inherently better than the prior tier). So, I cannot really comment on it. Also the general weapon balance seemed decent, bows weren't inherently overpowered, and weapon diversity seemed pretty good. I'm unsure if the odd inconsistencies in hit-boxes are related to server ping or if they just had to do with them needing to be optimized.

Another positive quality was the thought into the overall siege and map control were pretty good. The sieging was pretty interesting and had great ideas on using siege, but also giving castles/control points around the maps value, but not a game-breaking value. There were some bits that were a bit lacking and strange. Mostly, the projectile physics of some of the equipment is very much not intuitive. I'm not sure if their intent was from a place of balance or if it was just very strange. e.g. Ballista bolts drop super hard almost straight down after like 50-100ft. (hard to tell).

I wanted to like it because some people I enjoy playing video games were enjoying it, but as much as I tried. However, as the reasons I previously stated it just wasn't enjoyable for me.

I backed the game in 2015, and for some reason forgot about it. Just heard about it releasing from friends. Best of luck to the players, and their dev team.

This game has SOOO much to it. The story is amazing. The content is amazing. The survival aspect is fun! The map is very personalized for your experience and it really really shows! I absolutely love what they did and I look forward to see what these devs do in the future. Please don't change and keep making games for gamers. I hope you are well rewarded and it pays off to make games for the gamers not for the money that is returned. I absolutely believe you should make money, but not because that's your only intent! Much love!

I highly recommend this game.

It's super pretty in it's own ways and there's a lot of things to do with your friends or by yourself. Though, I highly recommend to find a group of peeps to play along with to have the maximum effect.

Progressing with your friends, Getting prepared for dungeon runs and boss runs. Building pretty bases and fighting sea monsters. I really appreciate how much effort and thought the devs have put in towards this game. <3

I've played both the first and the second version of this game. I had hoped with a positive mindset that when their CEO and Dev team admitted to their past mistakes and that they wanted to do a better job with the idea this time. I was hopeful and supported it, it isn't often you see people admit mistakes anymore. However, shockingly they followed the same exact pattern as their first iteration of the game which lost them millions of dollars by keeping it active as long as they did.

I think there is a massive lack of accountability, it seemed that they are willing to admit mistakes, but not internally admit them and make long lasting positive changes that are actually different than before. Same dev team with the same leadership stuck on the same idea. I never find any thing that they do to be helpful either. The gms for a long time have been pretty much useless at helping anyone with the many flaws within the game that often never get fixed and overlooked for pushing newer content. They encourage actively participating in their discord but do not police the discord for behavior that is regarded in any community as awful. Gaslighting, active discrimination/misgoyny, and they addressed anybody speaking of hacking or flaws within the game immediately. It put a really bad taste in my mouth and made it quite obvious that their mentality is not for their community at all, hence why it can fester a pretty awful behavior track.

To be honest, as someone who has played their games before and then again much later. Seeing that they actively push back against any criticisms without first listening to the validity of it and considering it, and having a big head about it is off-putting. I don't really see what they have to get a big head about, their first project was bleeding them dry for a decade, they just kept it running and made no seriously active changes to their build path or mentality. I would save yourself the time of throwing any sort of investment to their team, because there is actively no reason to.
