WARNING: DO NOT BUY THE GAME
This is not because it is bad, but it refuses to work on any graphics cards besides Nvidia. There is a PsyX engine that is crammed into the game. The menu screen will load fine, but when you click New Game and it says, "Press any button to begin." The screen will go black while the audio continues to play.
I have looked for multiple fixes but it is literally impossible to fix without having to buy an Nvidia card.
DO NOT BUY

I love the CIvil War. I love history and military history in general.
Good
1. Its a Civil War game.
2. Sounds are alright
3.Looks cool
4. Has a good concept about supplying and upgrading your troops.
Bad
1. Orders are a little clunky and take forever to complete. (Of course i get that its more real but c'mon)
2. There is 0 reason to even do well. Playing as both sides, i would wipe out a solid 50-75% of the enemy army, only for it COMPLETELY replenish by the next battle AND go up another 10,000 men. Wtf is the point if the Rebellion can send another 200,000 to the front when you wipe them out again, and again, and again. Imagine if Robert E. Lee lost battles like Gettysburg 5 times in a row with 30,000+ casualites. This game throws logic out the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ winow.
3. Yes i know the system put in minor battles were you can decrease the enemy army by a *sarcastically* 5 whole %, but then another 10,000 men show back up out of NOWHERE by the next battle. By 1863, i end up running out of cash mostly due to me replenishing men and supplies, EVEN THOUGH i win every....single...battle. There is 0 reward.

The game itself is interesting and fun, but the camera mechanics are awful. I have 0 clue where im looking on the battlefield.

After almost 1,000 hours of gameplay, im just gonna admit that this game makes you want to pull your hair out. It used to be fun, but after awhile, its the same ♥♥♥♥ over and over and over again. The game is extremely hard even on normal settings with no lucky nations, rebellions out the wazoo, more rebellions, and completely unfair battle mechanics that make you wonder what the ♥♥♥♥ happened. For example, rebel army of 25k vs my 27k army with a 2 star gen on open grasslands. I get my ass stomped BY REBELS And oops, there goes your manpower for the next 5 years. Oh and guess what? MORE REBELLIONS. Its irritating and its finally made me stop playing the game due to constant rebellions that you've put down 10 times already. Plus Paradox is DLC whoring the ♥♥♥♥ out of this game, even though its 4 years old.

Freddy is op. It doesnt matter if you're a low or high level, the fact that he can see your aura from anywhere on the map is just absurd. "Oh just wake up" news flash, thats impossible to do when Freddy is on your ass at all times. Even when you manage to get away and hide, he'll find you again in about 10 seconds. You have no time to wake up at all, so yes the nerf was a great thing to do. "Nerfed to the ground" oh please. Not everyone is a master at this game and can magically hide and stay hidden from Freddy. Freddy is built in with basically OP traits.

I couldnt even get the game to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ run. Extremely laggy and i have an amazing PC. Trying to change graphics makes the game stop responding or just crash all together. 10/10 would remove.

When i first bought the game at release, it was AWFUL. However, after years of updates and patches, now i can safely say i like the game. Fleet battles are a bit better from before, land battles are good, and the AI is slightly more intelligent than before.
UI has improved dramatically as well.
The only thing i can say that's bad is that Pike nations (Macedon, Egypt, etc) are incredibly op and easy to play. Just make a noob square with pikes and watch your enemy get totally slaughtered. Throw in 5 units of archers and it's even more of a blood bath. The AI really has no way of countering you unless they have extremely large amounts of missile units or manage to get to your rear.
I'd give this a 7/10. Not perfect, but for sure worth the money.

This is without a doubt, the HARDEST game ive ever played. There is a MASSIVE challenge. You dont get 2 months into the game without someone trying to steal your throne. It is BRUTALLY hard. Even if you play as the Holy Roman Empire, you will STILL get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ in the ass. I can understand a challange, but not when YOU GET ♥♥♥♥♥♥ IN LESS THAN 100 DAYS! When you get a new King, YOUR ♥♥♥♥♥♥. ♥♥♥♥ this game

Its not that good of a game. Graphics are pretty dull, and kinda ♥♥♥♥♥♥ combat system.
The game sorta punishes you for choosing a "lighter" warrior.
1. Heavy knights are just as fast as a super light person (♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥)
2. The game says your more (slow) at things but thats ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ too
3. Everyone chooses to be a Heavy Knight, so that pretty much makes you be one too, unless you wanna be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ over.
So its honestly really unbalanced for people.
Im gonna give it a D
It had some cool concepts but it failed at them.
