I cannot recommend 7 Years in Alpha, for the reason of it being more then 7 year in Alpha.
The graphics look terrible, The images on the store page are some polished photoshop images. Watch a youtube vid if you are not convinced.
It had potential 7 years ago. Now it's too little too late.
Don't ever question the motives of the Devs for doing anything and especially don't ask when the game gets out of Alpha in the discussion page as you will get swarmed by thuggish fanboy Mods that are a little too drunk off of their own power and ban you for trolling.

Played for a few hours to test it, this game uses a lot of free assets, seen them in other games like Mist Survival. Vehicle handling isn't good, gotta hold in the acceleration direction key (back or forth) for a few seconds before a car moves, and then it practically jumps in that direction. No precision allowed.
The barn we can build ourselves looks old and weather-worn.
Modular assets look nice, the roofs would look nicer tiled.
Movement is a bit wonky.
Don't get me started on the radio.
Gathering resources is terrible. 2 planks from each log, seems like a waste of wood. 2 tablesaws, cheap one is slow, "luxure" saw is faster but uses so much more fuel. Fuel economy is terrible, good thing gass is cheap ish.
All in all. Make more of your own assets, get somebody with experience to give you a hand with vehicles and character movement and animations otherwise your customers will feel ripped off. 2 out of 5 stars.

I love this game. The only thing that could make this better is if my character was a cat that purred contently every time I lit something on fire. And also maybe an option to auto link the fuses on fireworks you set down.
