Quake Good!

This was the beginning, of me as an gamer/geek/networking dude.
I had always tagged along with my old man into stores and played solitaire and doom on the machines at Walmart as a kid. But when we got our Packard Bell, with 400 megs of memory, and I eventually f u c k e d it up trying to make space open on it. It was for quake mods.

Quake was what started it all.
Our local DIAL UP ISP had a quake server
quake led me to learn about console commands, servers, networking, qcrack, quakespy, gamespy, planetquake, dedicated servers, lan parties, mods,SPEED RUNNING DEMOS, F U C K I N G MACHINIMA STARTED WITH QUAKE. E V E R Y T H I N G.

Sure Doom came first, OF COURSE WOLFENSTIEN was the grand papy, but moving a frame at a time, and dying a thousand times on the first level without mlook is NOTHING compared to when you here that first track,

F u c k i n g lock stock and SET ME THE F U C K UP AND STRAP ME IN. Map design, multiplayer, LAN F U C K I N G PARTIES. Without quake you have no TEAM FORTRESS, no quake You have no Half Life, Without quake YOU HAVE NO ESPORTS. This is the First, the All father, The grandfather, ALPHA, the FORERUNNER of ALL multiplayer games. This pitiful hour count only counts for hours launched through steam, but PALES IN COMPARISON to the lifetimes I have spent into this abyss that is quakedom.

IDGAF if it's on sale or full price, you owe it to the gaming gods to own this game regardless if you'll never play it, or find the many sites STILL dedicated to modding, map making, and keeping the speed sensation, the world PHENOMENON of quake alive. Does it stand the test of time, perhaps not, some like power ups, and abilities.

Some people though like having to know a map like the back of your hand and having to remember the time when the armor re-spawns without a nice icon showing you it's re-spawn.
