TL;DR: Get this, especially on sale if you enjoy precise, challenging and rewarding gameplay with RPG elements.

Now then... Monster Hunter: World. My first experience with a Monster Hunter game ever and I'm hooked.
After spending 150+ hours on PS4 and 180+ hours on PC, I can safely recommend this game to anyone who enjoys action based, third person videogames with a dash of RPG elements.

The Good Stuff:
- Extremely varied weapons, giving a large amount of replayability (Weapons completely change how you play)
- A good amount of varied monsters to fight
- Well put-together multiplayer, with easy matchmaking to other people
- Natural progression through items/armors/weapons (to a point)
- Lots of community events and events from the devs.
- Controls feel tight especially with mouse/keyboard IF you rebind them - this is subjective of course. (I recommend using YouTube for a guide to this).
- Completely mod-able. No holds barred! You can become a God in-game, or just transmog your items.
- A big modding community, creating more custom content, including new monsters and even expeditions.

The Bad Stuff:
- Can become extremely grindy later on in the game, with some droprates below 2% and ONLY triggering, if you break the right part
- Inventory management is tedious, both with a keyboard/mouse or a controller, especially on a Expedition/Quest
- Cutscenes in the main story (making it impossible to play the main story together, until you've seen the cutscenes)

To eleborate: The cutscenes are a nuisance as, if you play with friends, you HAVE to host your own Quest first, then watch all the cutscenes within said Quest, then leave the quest, and NOW you can join your friends same Quest (as long as he has seen the cutscenes too).

Now just something that I feel should be said, but is extremely subjective: The voice-acting (english) and some of the characters become a bit too "animu" for me (I am looking at you Handler), but not something I couldn't look past.
