short king simulator. the character creator is EXTREMELY limited so you're stuck playing as a hobbit. once you make your manlet marauder, prepare to face up to three enemy types as you explore the diet Zelda landscape: these range from mushroom zombie, sickle zombie, and some power bottom's fur affinity avatar.

if you picked a melee build like I did, you can fully expect to still look like a hobo hobbit 10 hours in, because all the gear you'll unlock up to that point that DOESN'T look like you randomly grabbed things from the donation bin at goodwill and then rolled around in a pile of broken glass is for ranged or spellcasters. we finally found copper though, so maybe in another 5 hours i'll find a recipe for armor that doesn't look like it was looted from a dumpster.

you can't move placables easily either, and there's no incentive to not have all your NPCs standing in a line in a giant box house with all the various stuff you unlock just jammed in where ever it fits. the storage containers you'll find are all weird-looking wooden cubes that don't snap together for **** and don't hold **** either and only become more of an eyesore the more you upgrade them. If you want to actually store a reasonable amount of stuff, prepare to have an entire wall dedicated to a grid of glowing blue cubes.

there's almost enough here to call this a good game, but there's so much about it that comes up short (no pun intended). This game is very readily compared to Valheim... but here's the thing: Valheim gets away with crap like having barely any character customization because in Valheim you can barely tell what you're looking at anyway. Valheim gets away with a mostly boring world and having virtually no enemy or loot variety because Valheim costs $20.

the game's not hopeless, and maybe now that they've sold a million copies they'll get serious about fleshing out the core game experience with more content and adding quality of life features (like moving boxes that are full of stuff, for example)

oh, and for the record, the reason I left a negative review and not just a comment on the discussion board is that the devs disabled their discussion board. no i'm not joining your discord.

Just another example of why not to give these people money.

This game is great. Don't listen to neurotic whiners who want content updates rushed out rather than done well. The proof is in the pudding and the pudding is damn good.

Full of hackers that can kill everyone on the map with the push of a button. RockStar does nothing, as usual.

It's a good-ass game.

If your favorite part of XCOM was that one time your entire team missed with 95% chances to hit when just one of them needed to hit one time to save you from losing a dozen hours worth of effort, then you'll love this game, because this game is pretty much just constantly being disappointed by your guys when just a little bit of on-par performance would have sufficed.

Update your drivers.

This is a game with a ton of promise. Looking forward to more updates.
