I don't usually post negative reviews, but I just couldn't get into this game at all. I kept waiting for it to get good, but it just never clicked. I'm not saying it is a bad game, but I just don't get it and I couldn't enjoy it.

I found the game play loop to be extremely boring. The world was uninteresting, I didn't care about anybody, and the game kept throwing new terms and concepts (timefall, BBs, BTs, Chiral network, etc.) and none of it made sense.

That's fair, although this game is one of my all time favorites, it really isn't for everyone. It might be that I'm more artistically-inclined, I was appreciating the game from the get-go, especially when the first low roar hit.

Maybe you shouldn't have reconnected to the network after all.

From a lot of comments or reviews I've seen it really does seem like Kojima fans have kind of a serious elitism complex, as if enjoying the Master's creations requires one to possess some special quality of "taking one's time" and "reveling within a deep and winding narrative", even though people already do that plenty, just without the expectation of not enjoying themselves for a job shift's worth of time first.
There's nothing inherently of greater worth in doing so though. You are allowed to want to enjoy yourself and get an in-depth narrative emotional journey

Yeah, like, my favorite genre are CRPGs - games that typically take upwards of 200+ hours per playthrough, with a focus on deep mechanical engagement through character building and tactical combat with resource management, as well as lots of reading and lore, typically being either based around existing properties such as tabletop RPGs, ala D&D, Pathfinder, WoD, etc, or entirely new worlds that require their own explanations and plenty of info-dumps.
Still, if a game doesn't apparently qualify to make enough of an impression to judge it in 7 hours - that to me is objectively a failure of game design. Hell, it should do so after one or two hours at most!

Dude played 7h and comments are like you didn't play enough for it to get interesting. That's a problem right there lmao

Couldn't agree more. Kojima is an overrated blowhard... and I say that as a fan of Metal Gear

It's regrettable to hear that you didn't connect with the game, despite your anticipation for it to improve. While I understand your perspective, it's possible that you may have missed key elements early in the game, which are crucial for understanding its world and mechanics. Let me provide some insights into why the game may not have resonated with you:

1. With a collection of over 500 games, it's conceivable that you gravitate towards fast-paced and straightforward gameplay, akin to Half-Life. This preference may have impacted your experience with a more intricate and prolonged narrative like Death Stranding.

2. Given your playtime of approximately 7 hours, it seems likely that you didn't progress far enough in the game to fully grasp its depth. The early stages, including Chapter 2, may have felt like a tutorial, which could contribute to the initial sense of the game being unengaging.

3. The terms such as Timefall, BBs, and others serve as vital components in explaining the unique world of Death Stranding. The game's lore presents a significantly altered reality, requiring players to adapt to its distinctiveness;

It's unfortunate that your dissatisfaction led to a negative review, potentially influencing others' perceptions of the game. If you find yourself overwhelmed by a multitude of games, I would suggest exploring titles that align more closely with your preferred gameplay experience as to prevent a biased opinion from affecting those who wish to purchase the game.

@Denzil personally, I wouldn't even play 7 hours if I wasn't enjoying a game. Life is too short and there are too many other great games to play to waste our time playing something you don't enjoy. I'd give a game 1.5 hours tops to grip me or I'm refunding and moving on to something else. My time s too precious and there are more games I still want to play than I can ever get to. Expecting someone to play for days and day when they aren't enjoying it is unreasonable and you absolutely do not have to complete a game before judging it, especially when your review can save someone else from wasting 7 hours on something thy won't enjoy.
