Pretty sure they keep renaming this game to try and trick people.

I'll get the reply to bad faith reviews out of the way right away.

All the typical bugs and issues with previous Bethesda Games exist. It has become blindingly obvious that Bethesda's formula is from a bygone era circa 2010. Bethesda has learned nothing from previous games and will learn nothing going forwards. This is a Bethesda game. It's an Oblivion Clone, like every Bethesda since Oblivion was release in 2006. You either like them at this point or you don't. Every complaint I've seen about the game could be simply replied to with:

"What were you expecting?"

With that out of the way, here is the review.

This is Fallout 4 in Space. Gunplay is pretty good. Weapons are varied and unique. Quest are probably the best Bethesda has done. Ship building is quite simply the best of any game I've ever played and I've probably played them all outside of some smaller early access games. Outpost building is serviceable but I don't like playing Barbie's Doll house myself. Locations are varied and the main locations are massive and in depth to the point where it is easy to get lost. Especially without a map. There is way too much to do in the game.

Real complaints: Encumbrance, seriously outdated UI, over reliance on fast travel, and no map for some crazy reason? Artifact and Temples outside of a few do get very repetitive towards the end of the main quest. The Starborn powers are either way too good or completely useless with no real in between. I don't know why they felt compelled to force magic into this world or why they couldn't have gone the route of say Cyberpunk or Mass Effect and make them more grounded in science fiction rather than straight up fantasy magic Dragonborn shouts. I think trying to force 24 to match the Greek Alphabet was also bad idea. Not being able to choose your starships interior is problematic and there could have been more ease of use options available like saving starship builds or a little more flexibility in the starship "requirements".

But otherwise I regret nothing about my current 100+ hours of play-through at full retail price and eagerly look forward to whatever DLC we're going to get in 6 months to a year. The modding scene for this game is going to be crazy.

9 out of 10. 8 if I wasn't able to mod the UI immediately.

I played this on my phone back when it was called Brown Dust and was there when it changed it's name to Brave Nine. Which Ironically sent me back to Epic Seven. I would say that it's long past time for these Gatchapon games to die in general. This one had a decent story as far as I got. But the game itself was a auto battle grind of PvP as far as I can remember with very unfair P2W mechanics. I can't actually give an accurate review of the current state of the game as the tutorial bugged out on me and the game freezes on launch when I try to open the game in with Steam. If you're looking for something similar there are many decent games out there that fill the strategy niche much better on PC, and just don't spend money on gatchapon manipulation games anymore.

Honestly, it's much better than I expected. Somehow it lives up to the hype.

Let me give you some context. I have about a thousand dollars worth of gunpla behind me. I've seen almost every show. I've played the Three Dynasty Warrior games to 100%. I played every localized Gundam game for PS1 and PS2 (That I know of). I even downloaded and played the SD Capsule version of this game that was in Japanese years ago. I AM the target demographic.

This is really sad. I am a huge Gundam fan and I cannot recommend this game. The matchmaking system is a joke, it takes about 5-10 minutes to get into a match with all the queuing, requeuing, getting kicked and then waiting 5 minutes for the last player to show up.

Then if you finally get into a match, prepare your ass for a beatdown. I have played about 20 matches and I've seriously been on the winning team ONE TIME. Giving Playstation players years head start is going to kill this game in the cradle. Why would any playstation player stick around when they have a bunch of stuff on the PS account. And no new player is going to stick around through the early day abuse. It makes me really sad, mad, and disappointed.

And then the cherry on top is I just know Bandai is going to turn around and use this game as an excuse not to port future games to the PC/West. They spit out bad localization after bad localization then use that as an excuse to not put any effort into making the localization/ports anything worth actually playing.

It's a much better game than it was at launch. It's not the best Fallout in the franchise, but it's definitely better than some of the DLC for the previous games. Looking at you Point Lookout and Honest Hearts.

Decent City Builder / Logistics game. The twist is interesting enough and upgrades come along frequently enough to keep me interested so far. About 23 hours in and have no idea how long it's going to take. I play city builders pretty slow and relaxed for what it's worth.

Edit: I have finished the game. Without spoilers, The last quarter of the game really focuses on reorganizing your space station to meet requirements fast enough. The story stays engaging until the end. However, there are no real answers given to any of the questions that arise in the story and the actual finale is pretty meh. Doing some research outside of the game regarding the story was informative and interesting but not conclusive so I'm not really sure what happened with Dolos, the Lunaclypse, and other anomalies that arise during the story events..

It's Overwatch + Gundam.

There is no space combat. No urban combat. It's an arena shooter with lots of rooms and corridors which feels strange to me considering these are 6 story tall mecha. The attack choices are really weird too. For some reason Turn A can't use it's melee weapons or shield but will instead dive forward to tackle and body slam an enemy suit? I get the feeling they're stealing all the game-play directly from Overwatch or some other similar game. For example Sazabi uses it's Beam Tomahawk like some kind of grappling hook? It's also missing all the classic Gundam franchise sound effects. Which, to be honest, is bothering me a lot more than it should.

It is however mindless fun. It also looks beautiful. It's free, you lose nothing but a little bit of time. The early reviews are being tainted by the early download period before the servers were available for play and some other launch network latency and connection issues. I have not experienced any issues myself. Everything has felt snappy and low ping in my play time. I can definitely see playing this more.

I've been playing TW games for almost 20 years now and this one launched in a much better state than say Empire, Rome 2, or Attila (Which is still unplayable for me in 2022 with an i7 and a 1080Ti).

Don't listen to the haters, this game is just as good as the previous two were at launch.

Expect some things to be cleaned up with upcoming patches. I've noticed minor graphical bugs on lower settings and the campaign needs a little bit of polish, but it's still years better than Vortex is even right now. Once the Mortal Empires equivalent is released people will calm down.

Yes, but. There are some serious bugs including save file corruption and crashing. Despite having over 100 hours "played" a lot of that was lost saves.
