Great zombies game, but you need to be willing to use your brain to get the most out of it due to the design of many easter eggs, both main and on the side. Picking up and playing casually is very similar to Black Ops 3, being almost identical in terms of mechanics.

Only real negatives that come to mind is that movement can sometimes feel a bit janky, as well as characters sometimes don't know how to shut up, either repeating the same dialogue or talking over eachother. Loot boxes could be considered a negative but I personally don't care since I don't use fortune cards and any loot box gun variants can be bought pretty easily and at your choosing with scrap you earn in game.

Very difficult game to learn with no prior knowledge of battles especially with the initial lack of upgrades, but once the fun starts it just snowballs from there. Battles 2 is a game where getting better at the game feels incredibly good and the skill ceiling is super high so it just never ends.

Unrelated to gameplay I can't help but mention this game's OST SLAPS, best Bloons soundtrack they've composed I'm always jamming to this game. I also love the hero and tower mastery customisations, adds lots of personality to the game and rewards you for using the towers you like.

Finally, while the game's XP system isn't perfect at the moment it's much better than at launch and the changes they have planned make me feel very optimistic for Battles 2's future. Excited for future updates and what more Ninja Kiwi plans to bring to the table.

This is my GOTY. Everything I loved about Left 4 Dead but amplified. Cards give so much depth and replayability, campaigns are super lengthy, multiplayer is a blast. And my personal favourite thing, there is so much to grind. Cards, outfits, weapon skins that are earnable without spending money. Outfits that show off your accomplishments in game (eg beating nightmare mode). Everything I value in a game. Even though I got it from a friend I'd 100% pay full price for it with no regrets.

Great game, plenty of cool things to set it apart from the complete saga like the ground war mode and dynamic split screen. However, the lack of full controller support makes it painful to play in some scenarios, especially if trying to remote play together.

I tried to like this game, but they've taken the wrong approach to many decisions about the game. It doesn't scratch the same itches as Borderlands 1 or 2. Loot is over-abundant and there is a significant lack of gear with any sort of personality. End game doesn't feel anywhere near as replayable as previous titles and I feel incredibly discouraged to start any new playthroughs due to how mind-numbingly slow the main story is to play through.

I was looking forward to the free content seasons and while they were interesting at first I'm now disappointment that they're taking the Overwatch approach and just re-hashing the same event every year and locking some of the only noteworthy gear behind a short timeframe in an attempt to encourage people to play, but it's only further turned me off from doing so.

Also, while I'm inherently not against a second season pass of content, I feel the way it was approached was very scummy and has only made me look down on the game even more. You pay full price and get half the playable content, some of which was shown to be completed and ready to ship since before the game's release but was since cut and put behind this paywall which, again, is full price and never goes on sale.

On a more positive note the improvements to movement mechanics definitely enhance gunfights and make the game feel more fluid than previous entries. On top of that I enjoyed the increased vehicle customisation, new side content concepts (clappy parts, hammerlock hunts, zero missions, typhon logs etc). The quality of life features introduced are definitely a blessing, auto buying full ammo, auto currency pickup, fast travel and respawn overhauls as well as the new weapon features (alt firing modes, new manufacturer traits + the reintroduction of ATLAS). Photo mode also gets a special shoutout as a feature I never knew I needed but now I want every game to have.

Finally, I need to address how much I love some of the new characters (not Ava). While the story overall may have been weak, the likes of Wainwright Jakobs, Pain and Terror, Chadd, Rhys and Typhon Deleon all gave the game some definite spice in their appearances. Returning characters were cool to see as well, though I wish they put more focus into fan favourites such as the B-Team instead of characters like Lillith.

Overall, BL3 demonstrates a greater misunderstanding from the Devs of what long term fans want from the franchise. While some welcome changes were made, many felt as if they were trying to re-make the foundations into something which was ultimately worse, instead of building on top of what were already proven to be a tried and true basis. At the end of the day it's still a Borderlands title and if you're a returning fan you're sure to find at least some enjoyment on a first time playthrough, but will likely not feel the need to come back for more any time soon.

TL:DR, This DLC is mostly good but a couple things spoil it for me, I wouldn't buy it at full price but I think it's worth trying out on a 50% sale. DISCLAIMER: there are some bugs that this DLC brings to the vanilla game, so I'd personally recommend playing with the unofficial community patch which fixes these + many more issues the game has. On to the review!

Positives:
New guns, gear, maps, characters, levels, missions, easter eggs, achievements and a new raid boss to boot. The main missions are decently lengthy, side missions are solid with some quality rewards (and aren't bad for lore reasons either). New gear is strong, the raid boss is unique in a fun way, overall the main content of this DLC is definitely a thumbs up

Negatives:
None of the new guns have new textures, all of the rainbow guns share a texture and any guns that don't have a skin used from an already existing gun
Most of the guns spawn with completely fixed parts, and of the parts they're fixed with of course it's the blade accessory and while this isn't much it annoys the crap out of me
This DLC adds 2 new OP levels but the scaling for them is broken, effectively doubling the health of some raid bosses making them actually impossible on most characters even with perfect builds

Additional thoughts:
This DLC had a pretty rough launch, apart from the fact it was free for many people it also broke most of the existing mods for Borderlands 2. It also came with an awful watermark advertising Borderlands 3 on the main menu that left a bad taste in many people's mouths (including my own). However, looking back on it with the dust settled I think the Fight for Sanctuary is in a pretty good place. I wouldn't pay full price for it, but it'd be worth if bought at 50% off or less, especially playing with the community patch that fixes all of this DLCs issues.

Is this game worth buying at full price? Absolutely not. But once in a blue moon it'll go on sale and I'd say it's worth picking up if you have friends to play extinction with, it's easily the biggest salvation for this game. Campaign is very average for the most part but there are one or two standout moments. Sin City having veteran difficulty button mashing is the single worst design decision I've ever seen, but nothing else really bothers me. Riley is a good boy. There are some UI and customisation elements that are super outdated, even some that are worse than the games that came before it. Multiplayer is dead af but it's the worst part of the game so you'll get over it.
