A cute, quick little game! Completed the achievements in 10 hours solo which I feel like is pretty good for $15. I might pick this back up with a friend at some point to mess around as it's quite replayable. Recommend this game and if you like it to, support the devs with the dlc and soundtrack :)

It's a clicker game, there's simulated gambling which is cool I guess. It doesn't abuse the steam marketplace. My PC isn't hacked yet. Linguini aka raikou is cool. Silly game please take my $10 and give raikou a treat for me.

A Rough Start for a "Spiritual Successor"

I am conflicted about s&box. While Facepunch marketed this as the spiritual successor to Garry’s Mod, that comparison might have done the game a disservice. I tried to go in with an open mind, but the Gmod legacy is impossible to ignore. After 15 hours of testing a wide variety of modes, here is where the game stands in my eyes.

The Content Problem
Many of the current modes feel like shallow imitations. The DarkRP clones are functional, but they lack the depth and toolsets that make the original Gmod versions worth playing. Even more disappointing are the "clicker" games. I found several casino, business management, and case-opening modes that offer almost no real gameplay. These feel like mobile games you would play for five minutes on your phone. Paying $20 to see "cookie clickers" with basic visuals on the front page is a major letdown.

The Highlights
It isn't all bad. The arcade-style games (specifically the skateboarding, ragdoll, and marble racer/platformer) show real promise. These modes feel like the developers actually cared about the experience and maximized the tools available. They are light on content for now, but they are genuinely fun to mess around in.

Technical Hurdles
The lack of a mandatory server browser is a significant issue. Many games only offer "New Game" or "Join Game" buttons, forcing you into servers without any choice. In one instance, I was placed in a high-player-count server with massive latency. My performance plummeted from a smooth 180 FPS to a stuttering 18 FPS.

Verdict
At this moment, s&box is not worth $20. Most modes have better alternatives in Gmod or free equivalents on platforms like Roblox. While Source 2 looks great (sausage characters aside), the engine needs better optimization and creators need more robust tools. I want this to be the next big sandbox platform, but it isn't there yet.

DESPITE RECOMMENDING THIS GAME, as a solo gamer, I get quite frustrated with games requiring getting your friends to purchase and play a game just so you can earn all achievements. I know it's a co-op focused game but if you're gonna give people the option to play solo, you should also give those solo players the option to full complete the game while remaining solo.

Oh yeah. The game. It's cute. Pretty challenging but fun. I'm sure it'd be super fun with friends but I refuse to get any of those. It's worth $8, even if you're a solo player. Just don't expect to add it to your "completionist" list.

FOR A FREE TO PLAY GAME, this game is pretty good! I like the roguelike elements and how different each run can go. The gacha elements can get pretty confusing and obnoxious but key gameplay elements aren't locked behind paywalls, which I can respect. Try it out and see if it's your thing. It's free.

Early Access Review
Please note, this review is during the early access period of this game and was posted 8.2.25. My "complaints" might be fixed before I can update the review.

This game has been a nice little romp so far. I've only played the snowboarding area so far but I enjoy this game for most of the same reasons I put hours into Descenders on my Xbox.

The Good: The controls aren't super complicated. You can jump right into the game and just start playing. You can hop in with buddies and mess around. The gameplay loop feels rewarding. The in game music is chill EDM (Monstercat type stuff) which fits the game, imo.

The Bad: My player model tends to freak out sometimes after bailing, causing it to stretch. I've noticed some huge floating rock textures in some of the areas (which is fairly normal for early access). I've also noticed people in the "parks" just holding one direction on both of their thumbsticks to rack up a load of points (not that this matters to ME personally but find it cheesy).

$30 is a fair price to pay for this game. It's different enough from Descenders and seems really promising so far. Can't wait to see what's next. (please no "battlepass" garbage. gamers don't want that :( )

Early Access Review
TL;DR, Gameplay seems hectic. It's clearly had a lot of effort and passion put into it. If you like simulation games, give it a go. Might be for you. Might not.

Now, to be fair, I will start out by saying, the hour or so that I played this game, I was playing on a laptop in a hotel room so, maybe not the ideal way to play this game. That being said, I find the idea and concepts behind this game fun. Where I have a problem, though, is the game's difficulty and hectic timing. I played on both the easiest and the middle difficulty. On the easiest, you're thrown an insane amount of contraband and confiscations. I get that this is to make the game fun so you can experience all the bizzare ways people hide their stuff. You're given a lot of time to take care of the luggage so, imo, it feels too easy.

However, the middle difficulty has an acceptable amount of contraband but gives you quite little time. In the 3-ish in game days I played, I was not able to finish all arrivals in time. Because of this, you're given penalization warnings. The crazy difference between the two difficulties is quite harsh and has pushed me away from this game, for now.

This game, in it's current state, isn't for me. That being said, give it a go. It might be a great game for you!

Saw this would give a discord reward and though, why not. I'm not familiar with moba's like.. at all, but this is a pretty fun game that I will boot up a couple more times. I don't exactly know what I'm doing but it doesn't seem like that matters all that much. Will probably update this review. Maybe not. Meh.
