I got a couple of cats from a trader, now I have cats everywhere, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like rabbits. I can't give them away, no-one wants them. I might have to make them into kibble. I love cats.

This game has diseased my mind. I cannot put it down. It is a dopamine factory. I have to play long cycles or it goes from doing rails to doing rocks. Please keep adding things to find, and make the maps bigger and more surprising. Then I will starve to death.

I have ADHD and often have trouble making it from the impulse to start playing a game all the way through the load scenes to the actual content. So believe me when I tell you this game rewards you for making it through, and doesn't make you wait.

Neon Abyss is simple, beautiful and hard to put down. It is unafraid to massively overpower the player who survives a couple of rounds to speed up gameplay, turn a fun time in a bouncy castle into a high velocity demolition as you charge through clearing room after room and discovering the weirdest powerups and gun types. Don't be afraid to go back and get a gun you just traded away, the power differentials are sometimes bizarre - but that's OK!

It's playful and has exquisitely good vibes. The music is great, and though the game has a sparse feel to it, there is much more than you expect waiting for you deeper. Also, the devs seem to be turning out regular updates on the experimental branch, and really do seem to be in a dialog with us - including some fourth wall moments in the game (is that meaningful wrt games? who knows).

Anyway, as a person that is a fan of roguelikes and roguelites but not punishing ones, this hits my sweet spot. I can quite easily complete a run, though not always. It's satisfying and rewarding, without going full diablo-3-onanism. And it's cute as hell.

Excellent vibes, ongoing fun. Highly recommend.
