Permadeath. Trial & error. Muscle memory. Luck over skill. Rage quitting. Don't ♥♥♥♥ Up: The Game has just about everything I hate all rolled into one game, and yet somehow it's all come together into something that's hard to put down.

There's just something about this one. The music works well with the pace of the game in a way that's very engaging. Some games will make you find yourself thinking, "just one more." This is that kind of game, except you won't even think about it - you'll just keep going and going until that inevitable rage quit.

Don't think. Don't blink. Don't ♥♥♥♥ up.

Is it a perfect port? Absolutely not.
Is it still playable? It certainly is.

This port has been plagued with issues ever since it was released here. The devs have addressed some of them, but it feels like with each step forward they take two steps back. A handful of achievements have been bugged for a while now (about a year I believe, at the time of writing this).

It plays about as well as you would expect it to. Symphonia started on the GameCube, was ported to the PS2, and then to the PS3, and finally to PC, and in an awkward game of telephone we're stuck with by far the worst iteration, which I blame entirely on the devs who can't seem to figure out what they want to do with this game. A post-release, sloppy overhall of the graphics, some scenes where dialogue is jumbled, broken achievements...

I've been playing Symphonia for over a decade and I know it by heart, so these things stick out terribly to me. However -- nothing game-breaking. And nothing that really changes the gaming experience. You can play it and it will be fine. I will never not recommend this game, especially if you're already a Tales-of fan.

Don't come in expecting a masterpiece, but also please don't be afraid to give this game the chance it deserves. (If not here, there are multiple other options.) Grab it on sale, it goes down to a pretty decent price.

Why didn't anyone ever tell me that I wasn't missing out on anything?

I really wanted to enjoy this game. It caught my eye a while ago and it's been on my wishlist ever since. It looked so cute and entertaining, and the reviews for it seemed quite positive.

That said, Girls Like Robots really fell flat with me.
The charm of the game wore off very, very quickly.
The puzzles were boring and the music was terrible.
Even for a puzzle game the gameplay was subpar.

I played through and kept hoping its initial charm would make a surprise comeback... but instead the game slowly dragged on and on, getting more boring as it went. Even the art was hard to enjoy, when all the characters were just a bunch of heads bobbing up and down, it all felt lazy and uncreative. The puzzles became redundant and failed to evolve into anything challenging or interesting. A disappointment all around.

If you're planning on getting this game, aim to get it on sale. Don't waste $7 on it.

Pid is surprisingly challenging, even on its "normal" difficulty... I love pretty much everything about it, but you do need a very patient hand. Kurt moves unfortunately slowly, and you generally can't breeze through puzzles... gameplay and mechanics and such are fine, but again it takes a fair amount of patience.

The game lets you figure things out on your own, it tells you only what it deems necessary and you're left to explore, trying to escape the planet Kurt is trapped on. There's no hand-holding in this game, and at times it can be quite unforgiving. One of the reviewers mentions that they don't expect the game to have much length - do not listen to this person. There is much to explore, you will die trying to solve puzzles, and the bosses will stomp on you. This isn't a quick game you're going to get through in a couple of hours. Pid is beautiful and you will surely get your money's worth, if you're willing to stick it out and take on the challenge.

If you're looking for a casual, minimalistic puzzle game to click at, LYNE will certainly deliver.

With 26 sets of puzzles this game can definitely keep you busy, this isn't something you're going to breeze right through (unless you look at guides, I guess). Things start out simply enough; but with each set you unlock, the puzzles slowly and steadily become more complex. The puzzles themselves aren't terribly "big" per se, but you do run into some head-scratchers here and there that might take you longer than some of the others in the same set to figure out. Luckily each set has plenty of puzzles, so if you get stuck on one you can just leave it be, try another and come back to it later.

All I can say is, the way they've come up with so many combinations of lines connecting panels to color-coded diamonds, squares and triangles is somewhat baffling and maddening. I will recommend LYNE because I do enjoy it, but I'll also recommend you play it in small doses. I do a set or two at a time and then I need to move on to something else. Because although the puzzles are well done, after playing for so long it can start to feel quite repetitive and you may strain your patience muscle. The puzzles are very uniform but therefore also predictable and doing too many will make the game feel monotonous, which is really not fair to it, because again, it can be very enjoyable.

What else to say? It's peaceful, it's relaxing, it's simple and visually-pleasing and even comes with multiple unlockable color palettes... and with over 600 individual puzzles - not including the daily puzzles - LYNE is not exactly in any rush to be finished (so don't peek at solutions!). Grabbed this on sale but I think I'd pay the full three bucks for it. I'm not sure what the replay value will be like after I've completed everything, but for now I'm having a lot of fun with it.

What can I say? This game had me instantly hooked.

Came for the awesome art and stayed for so much more.

The plot itself isn't terribly long but there's a bunch to do and see. And the shooter levels are a lot of fun.

Mostly I'm just really impressed and entertained with the art and the environments and characters and pretty much everything. Very reminiscent of the Paper Mario games, yet it still feels different and unique.

At this price this game is absolutely worth it. I'm really glad I found it, I'll be playing it for a while!

I wish there was a "meh" option because I'm kind of in the middle with this one.

On the one hand it's a beautiful game, both in the art and music... very easy to play, quite simple all around, I've seen other people use words like relaxing and calming to describe it and sure, I can see that.

On the other hand if you're like me and you're trying to do things perfectly you really have to complete each level in such a painfully specific way it's somewhat ridiculous. I mean kudos to the developers (if this was what they were trying to achieve) because this game seriously grinds your brain and will really test your patience and make you pay some serious attention to detail. I honestly can't tell if it's creative or if it just got lucky with how nit-picky the spirits are on the ground and how randomly they seem to move in the air.

If you just want a puzzle game to relax with and casually play and aren't super concerned with perfect completion then sure, I'll recommend this game (do aim for the sale price).

PS I am ashamed of how long it took me to realize something useful happens if you click on the spirits while they're in midair.

Short, fun, and straightforward. Restore the lands of the kingdom that have been covered in darkness and dragons... For just a buck, why not? Comes with multiple difficulty levels and trading cards. It's a fairly well-rounded little game, and I'll be interested to check out the sequel.
