Not to piggyback off what everyone is saying, but this game is LITERALLY the biggest love letter to the best aspects of so many JRPGs. It reeks of inspiration from so many avenues yet still manages to do so many things in such a unique manner while opening the game up to strategy... and it isn't just one strategy, you can do any kind of build you want and it will work out. Whatever you're best at in these kind of games, it will work for you perfectly as there's always something to compliment it.

Now... The only thing for that is that all these bonuses and such are locked behind exploration... but good lord, what a beautiful looking game. It feels so rewarding, even to get something small, for just breaking off the main story's trail. And superbosses/elite enemies galore! So many encounters that will challenge what you already know or are familiar with and then some enemies that will completely flip the script. But not in a way that feels impossible, more of just searching for that 'Aha!' moment and then you destroy them.

The difficulty is tweaked to what feels like perfection no matter what kind of gamer you are. And no matter what kind of gamer you are, I think there's one thing you can appreciate that is taken to an expert level design here. Music, combat, scenery, acting, it's all top notch... And to think they came from a former triple A company that hasn't put out anything of this quality in years. I can't wait for Sandfall's next game. Please, no matter how you view turn-based games, play this one. Forego all judgement of what you think of RPG games and give this one a proper shot. I would have paid double for this.

While I don't support AI, it seems Sandfall only used it for some proof of concept purposes. Good on them for making everything with their own created assets afterwards.
