First off, like pretty much any Capcom PC game, it's just got absolutely janky controls and a PC interface. Capcom makes great games, but man... they just can't make a fluid PC UI to save their lives.

That said, enjoying it so far. The game plays smooth, the graphics just hit a sweet point, and there's a lot of ridiculously fun gameplay elements added like the ability to pick enemies and just yeet them. Or friends. Yeet them. Friendly pawns? YEET THEM INTO THE BATTLE!

So far the game has been pretty smooth performance wise, story wise, and more. I definitely want to keep playing. It's hit almost all my marks.

One really, REALLY stupid note: after the tutorial and intro, you end up in the main starting area. If you die early on... and don't save... the game takes you all the way back to the tutorial and you have to start over. Not the end of the world, but it's a pretty dumb design decision.

Mandating account linking to PSN months later is an awful move. I think this is a fun game, but changing the mandate as to whether players who own a game can even play the game they purchased after is nothing short of a giant middle finger to the player base.

Had they been up front about it? Sure, fine. This? Nah.

*steps out of a time portal*

"Past me, there's no time to explain. Some really bad ♥♥♥♥ happens in 2020... and then it never really gets better. Like at all. BUT at some point in the future Baldur's Gate and Dragon's Age get smashed into the same game, and it'll change your life!"

EDIT: There's a reasonably significant bug that causes companion AI pathing to permanently break, and it becomes a bit problematic the more the game advances. Characters easily get stuck on basic terrain and can't figure out how to follow unless I take manual control, or others act like they're permanently ungrouped even though they're clearly set to grouped mode.

This isn't the end of the world, but it makes the game progressively more tedious to play. Hopefully something that can be fixed in a patch.

You see this, EA? *THIS* is how you do a sequel. It's better than the original in every way without throwing a bunch of useless crap into the mix.

THIS is how sequels should be.

War of the Chosen is one of the single greatest expansion in gaming history. Play. This. Game.

Recommended? No. Bad? Also no.

This is a great little expansion pack, and there's nothing particular bad about it. I'd give it two thumbs up, but it's about three hours of content and a few skins. Short. Nothing wrong with that, but it feels lackluster for the price. It also doesn't fix the flaws of the original game (awful music and at-times braindead companion AI. I also hate playing with the synths).

If it was $10 I'd say yeah, but $15 is kinda... I dunno. I hate NOT recommending this, because as I said, I don't hate it, it just feels like other games give out more for the money. We ran the campaign twice and it just felt like it was over all too quick.

I feel this game has crazy-huge potential, but the music and lack of companion AI/dialogue with personality just limits it a bit.

I wasn't a huge fan of the game at the start, but the more I've played the more I've fallen in love with it. It's a basic rogue-like with a kickin' soundtrack and really great pixel graphics and is generally pretty smooth. I also never feel like the game is cheap. Every death is I've owned due to mistake on my part. I dig that. Challenging, but never cheap.

My biggest complaint is there's no simple way to view the benefits of a power-up, even if you've picked it up before. Some of them are a bit cursed, and have ruined some runs.

It does everything it needs to do and pretty well. It's a solid game through and through.

That said, there's one thing I kinda wish it had. A tower defensey kind of mod, as the base defense battles are intense and amazing and I want MORE.

EDIT: Completed the game. About 12-14 hours of game/story, and all pretty good. Worth the price.
