Ok here is my experience so far:
Log in to odyssey, get put into a tutorial mission.. getting 15-20 fps... I was getting >100 fps in Horizons... ok fix that later.
Start to follow the instructions... instructions say to hit <unknown> to do this and that... none of the controls are bound to anything because I have custom control setup... so I slowly one control at a time go into the settings and find the thing they are asking me to do... oh I have to crouch? It doesn't tell me the key (cause its not bound) so go into settings.. find the crouch key.. bind to CTRL... do this over and over until I get all of the controls for the tutorial bound (but there are other VERY important ones that you don't use, but later will find out that you need to bind the HUD controls so you can recall your ship after you died to a retrieval mission where they don't tell you if you step 5 steps away from a cop they shoot you because you refused to submit to a scan ... for the millionth time, but I digress)
Finish the mission, get picked up and wait for the NPC pilot to bring me to a station... eventually end up back my trusty Python..
Decide to do a mission, died almost immediately because its way to hard and I don't have any upgraded gear I guess (there's no gating for gear level I guess? my bad)
Try a threat level 0 retrieval mission instead.. no problem right, just find a crate and enter the code. Easy peasy.. land on the planet next to the base (that has too small of a pad to land my ship)... run for 2 minutes to the place... find the crate.. but as soon as I wander too close to a security guard they say stop! and I stop but apparently I didn't stop fast enough since I wasn't expecting it and went 2 steps too far... now I am getting shot.. died.. wake up in jail.. where is my ship? spend 20 minutes trying to find out where it is... its on the planet where I died in the next system.. can I pay to get my ship transferred there? of course not.... have to figure out how to take a shuttle ride to the planet where I died... get off... repeat the same scenario with the security guard above... run for my life... they never stop following but I get far enough to take cover behind a rock in the dark... how do I recall my ship? no idea... hit every key I can think of... nothing. Eventually have to google the problem and find out that I need to use the HUD to recall my ship.. and the key is not bound... (from earlier)... die again while tying to figure that out from the security drones that never stop chasing you... overall very frustrating and a hot mess of low framerates and stupid frustrating gameplay...
I can't recommend this update at all, unless you just want the fancy graphical upgrades that are not worth the cost at all...this is a wait and see if they fix it eventually.

Great visual style. Interesting survival game play, randomly generated world provides lots of replay value. Very challenging to get started but rewarding, even when you die you get xp points to unlock new characters so you never feel like you wasted your time.
