I really want to like this game but the proximity voice chat feels practically unusable as someone who usually loves proximity voice chat. I have audio processing issues, which hasn't been an issue in any other game I've played, but in this game, I can't hear anyone who isn't standing directly beside me; even a few steps forward and someone becomes completely incomprehensible. From what I've heard, the proximity voice chat being tuned in this way seems pretty intentional, but it makes it so I can't understand anyone in a game specifically intended to be social, and my friends start to get pissy at me for not physically being able to understand them at all. They DO have the ability to individually increase the audio for everyone, which does completely fix this issue, but then it causes a new one: Anyone who speaks into a walkie-talkie at all becomes WAY TOO LOUD and not only drowns out all other noise but becomes completely incomprehensible to me themself. I find myself stuck between keeping the audio levels reasonable and making proximity voice unusable, or jamming the audio levels up and making walkie-talkies unusable. I feel like the proximity voice chat really needs to be tuned some more so that it's more bearable when a slight distance away from others.

This was a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ great experience all around and a wonderful way to end off 2022. It's a fun little RPG, the gameplay being pretty damn fun all things considered. I do think it started off a bit slow. While the base skills don't go too far alone, the spellbooks system adds so much to the mix, and that absolutely makes the battles much more engaging. It was challenging enough without feeling unfair either (though I do think the beginning was a bit TOO easy.) Unfortunately, the game did also suffer from RPGMaker jank, as any RPGMaker game does. I can't blame the developers entirely for this, but it did unfortunately detract from the experience a fair bit at times.

The writing in this game was fantastic. Every single joke landed, and I might've woken my roommate late at night from laughing too hard (whoops!). Each character had their own unique charm, and every little interaction they had warmed my heart. Unfortunately, I do feel the overarching plot fell flat in a lot of ways. I was initially going to give the story a 6/10, but the arc the two main characters go through in the middle of the story, to spoil as little as possible barely pushed it up to seven. The plot itself was bland, which opens up for a more character-driven story, but unfortunately it nearly falls flat on this end as well. However, the characters themselves ooze enough personality for me to say that playing through this game was, indeed, worthwhile.

TL;DR, women

Few years after playing, tried to hop back into the game. Upon hitting start game, another window pops up, showing the Xbox logo, and saying "Let's get you signed in." ...and that's it. Doesn't actually let me sign in, doesn't let me play the game that I spent money on. Happened with Minecraft Bedrock, happened with Sea of Thieves. I sure do love outright being denied the ability to play the games I spent my money on, Microsoft.

Update: I found out this issue occurs because the button is hidden due to an increase of the font size in settings. Good job, Microsoft, you made this game inaccessible on your own system. I've fixed this, but I am leaving this negative review here for this pretty blatant oversight.

What an amazing game. Atmosphere is on point, gameplay is tough but fun, scenery is wonderful. It's not perfect, but it's one of my favorite games nonetheless. I can't recommend this game more.

This is one of those games in which even gameplay mechanics are spoilers and going in with any amount of knowledge will end up ruining experiences that you were intended to have. What I'm trying to say is, if you were recommended this game by a friend, or even if this game just happened to catch your interest, stop reading about it, go in, play for a bit, then see if you like it. Worst case scenario, you hate it and can refund it before 2 hours of gameplay. Best case scenario, you get the most unique experience a video game has to offer, ever.

Good game, ♥♥♥♥ devs. Expected no backlash for openly banning people for mentioning that they are homosexual / transgender. Can't recommend because I don't believe the developers deserve profit here. and even then the only reason its worth using is its mods, not anything the devs themselves added.

Only horror game that's ever scared me. Only RPG to make me cry on every single re-play thus far. Only game ever to make me face the unpleasant emotions I didn't want to experience and weave a narrative experience completely tugging at my heart. I've taken so much out of this game, and its quite possibly the most important game I think I've ever played.

This game is a must-play. Please, for your own sake, avoid spoilers, don't watch a playthrough, play this game yourself in full. This game is art and deserves to be experienced in its purest form. The soundtrack still rings in my ears, the story still plays itself in my head at least once a week, the artstyle is glorious and memorable, and there is minimal grind for a turn-based RPG with relatively fun gameplay if you like those kinds of games; overall the quality of this game shows exactly why it took five years to complete.

This game will stick with me for a while. The story is heavy, but ultimately, rewarding. Please, if you have the money and time to spare, please pick this game up. It is well worth your time.

Came into this game expecting fun, got way too much fun. 1/10 enjoyed it too much.
