Let me start by saying this game is actually great in the beginning. The story line is solid and every moment you feel like you actually are striving to survive the harsh deserts of Dune. But as time goes on, RSS requirements get heavy...and by end game, its HEAVY HEAVY.

But its a part of the grind...its a survival game...yeah...I get that, but thats not the problem. Its the PVP.

Now...I love a good PVP match, going out and trying to survive while doing endgame is great...WHEN I have an opportunity to get the gear. This game, in its current state, will not let that happen. The second you get to the Deep Desert and go into the areas where the "good stuff" is, you will be swarmed by people who already have maxed out gear but are just waiting to kill you

...not for your equipment...not for your RSS...but because they can.

Not once...Not twice...but until all of your gear is broken.

To put it into perspective. In order for me to gather the RSS to build the lowest tier ASLT Ornothopter, it took me 2-3 days to gather the RSS, prep them, and make the ship. Two rockets later, and my work was gone. Bird destoryed, and what I was carrying lost. I tried to go back, to recover what I could just to find everything in my downed bird still on it, but the Ornothopter destoryed. Then...they killed me again...for walking towards it.

I love PVP...I really do...but when you dont have a chance to even get to grab the gear for it theres no fun in it.

so...144 Hours into the game, and I have to accept that all 144 Hours will now go to nothing, because even If I did decide to come back and want to play again, my base will be gone, my work gone, and Ill be back at square one.

Save yourself the hassle of playing something that is made for people that dedicate their lives to a game. Those of us that have jobs where we might have to leave for months at a time due to work...this isnt for us.

Thanks Funcom for the great game, but the PVP and none dedicated servers killed it, and I dont think Ill come back.

Wow...Just WOW. This game is amazing. I'm currently sitting at almost 51 hours in this game and I have to say this takes me back. I haven't played a game through, day and night, in a LONG time...like...FF7 black label long time. As a newbie to the series I was a little lost at first to the story but I will say this game doesn't disappoint. I would def recommend this one if you are a fan of JRPGs or Action RPGs in general.

I give this game a Solid 5/5!

NOTE to DEVS: Absolutely great work and thank you for listening to the community (I've since delved in in these last two days). I really appreciate you bringing this work of art to us and look forward for your future additions!

--UPDATE--
Now that the SONY crap is done, buy this game. It is awesome. Looking forward to diving with friends and randoms alike more. Still keeping my old review up though as a memo to the past. Just remember that at the end of the day we, the gamers, are the ones who ultimately are in control. Keep fighting the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that these major corps try to pull and always remember that they are providing us a service.

To the Dev Team: Keep up the good work, we appreciate everything you have done and continue to do to make the game a enjoyable experience.

OLD REVIEW:

Before I get into the review, let me post a quote directly from SONY's store page when wanting to buy HELLDIVERS 2

"Do I need a PSN account to play PlayStation games on PC?

No, you currently do not need a PSN account to enjoy PlayStation Studios games on PC, but you will need a Steam account to redeem your voucher code. Some of our PlayStation Studios titles also offer incentives for linking your Steam and PSN accounts. "

In Fact, again as per their own website, if you scroll to the bottom of that same page, the only term the have listed is you need a Steam account to activate the game...no mention of a PSN account needed...

Now Given this bit of information on to the review...

This is a great game but SONY (who has been hacked and lost their users data multiple times in the last 10 years) has ruined it by going against what is posted on their own website.

So if your considering it please reference the flowchart below:

1) Do I have a PSN Account?
(if yes move to question 2, if no to question 4.)

2) Do I know or remember it?
(if yes move to question 4, if no to question 3.)

3) If I remembered it would I Link the account?
(If Yes or no move to question 4.)

4) Will I still be requesting a refund with over 100 hours on the game once that requirement drops?

Welp...This game is...well...Amazing. As a fan of RPGs this one has me hooked. Between the story, combat, role selection, and versatility of literally everything in the game it leaves nothing to want but more. After over 100 hours in the game I still haven't completed it and am looking forward to more of the beautiful voice acting, dynamic combat, and mystery the game has to offer.

Great game that reminds me of the pain of old school rpgs. Its a challenge that will keep you on your toes debating on when (and where) to rest, when to fight, and when to run. While the game is in EA it has a lot of potential to become a great game.

Update: I'm now 82 hrs into the game and I have to say it still fails to disappoint! I often find myself getting absolutely frustrated with myself after spending a good deal of time doing dungeons and prepping everything just to set off to town and get killed by a boar or wolf. I started this game when it was first released and still believe it to be one of the better (if not the best) game in my library. Highly, HIGHLY recommend it if you like rouge-like games that offer a challenge where you shake your head and rage-quit after making a dumb decision!

2nd Update: Im reading through the reviews the game has been getting and wow...rly??? Let me start with a few things...

1: The game is meant to be difficult and prepping is important. If you enter a dungeon and are ill prepped then you will die. If you dont take time to rest, you will die. If you leave and come back the next day...you will fight more enemies and....you MAY die. Prep your stuff.

2: Many people are complaining about the saving. Ok...i get it...most games allow you to save anywhere and come back to that same spot if you reload. This isn't one of those games... They are going to add a save feature that saves the game upon exit but dont expect to try and save/load spam you way through a dungeon.

3: Its a rouge-like game...things will be seemingly impossible at times. That's the nature of Rouge-like games. Plan your skills, find camps, go kill stuff before you go do a quest to lvl up a bit. Almost all of the quests have timers. If you want you to know the difficulty of the quest you are about to undertake. READ THE NAME OF THE LOCATION, REJECT THE QUEST, CHECK YOUR MAP AND BAM! YOU KNOW THE DIFFICULTY!!

I am 108 hrs into the game and still will highly recommend it. Treat this game the way you would treat a souls game. Get your ass kicked, rage a bit, face palm, close it out, then come back in 5 mins or so to get wreked again. If you don't enjoy a little raging in your game then go play something more to your style...like candy crush or something.

Amazing Combat system!! The combat is smooth and enjoyable. There are a few server issues but nothing that makes the game unplayable. Def gonna buy.
