I think first and foremost, this is an exploration game, and I wouldn't recommend it to just anyone. There are a few main story paths to guide you, and the expeditions take you on their own unique paths, but this game is best when you're good at coming up with your own goals, or you just want to chill and explore and mess with whatever you stumble across. The vintage/retro sci-fi vibes are so good, and the lore is the weird & unsettling kind that I like.

Of course, everyone knows the launch wasn't great, but Hello Games has worked (for 8+ YEARS now) to give us everything we could've hoped for, and more. And more. And more... And never charged for it, ever. In fact, this game almost always goes on sale for big updates, but it is absolutely worth full price. The sheer dedication they have to this one game is incredible, and it makes me wish it wasn't so rare to see in studios these days.

Played more on other platforms, but mostly waited almost 10 years for the stuff I was interested in. They barely delivered half of what was promised to backers. But hey, at least they found time to make paid DLC to squeeze a few more dollars before pulling the plug.

Word of warning: Run the game in "fantastic" quality, otherwise the game runs at uncapped frames and uses quite a lot of CPU and GPU.

I don't know exactly what I love about this game. I think it's the unbridled progression: Raise numbers, spend numbers, raise numbers faster. I have this on iOS, where I've 100%ed all 3 planets twice. I fully plan to do it again now that I've found it on Steam. Might take me several months, but I'm ready for a fresh challenge.

Update: Turns out, it only took me about a week to complete, thanks to my iOS knowledge and some lucky event placements that let me gild my planets. Still, highly recommended. (Although I don't recommend paying real money for anything.)
