Alright. Mystery Solitaire Cthulhu Mythos is....a very boring game. I only paid 49 cents for this one, so I'm not gonna be too bent out of shape over it, but as cool as the title sounds and as nice as the product page looks, this game does not live up to any of that.

With a title like that, you would expect some sort of story to go along with it. Nope. While the actual Solitaire levels are perfectly passable, they aren't particularly noteworthy and get stale pretty quickly.

There are three wrinkles to the game outside of a small variety of Solitaire level designs. You earn credits while playing that can be used to by jokers, which are treated as wild cards, mulligans which roll back your last decision as implied by the name, and shuffle, which shuffles the remaining cards on the table.

Rather than match suits or do anything notably solitaire related, your goal is only to stack sequential cards into your discard pile in order to reveal special cards that boost your credits and to reveal and use all gold cards on the table. You have to try and play all the gold cards, at which point you win regardless of how many other cards are left on the table. You can complete a level without using them all by simply using all the cards in your deck, but for a perfect score, that is what is required. Actually, your deck of cards to pull from when you run out of options is this game's main connection to real Solitaire best I can tell.

It has been brought to my attention after buying this game that the developer reskins and resells this exact same game and has many many many many variations of the same game on Steam, with a variety of names. And the publisher promotes many games that employ this same method of development. Although this doesn't factor into my review rating, it is worth noting before you send your cash their way. To me, it is indicative of the lack of imaginative or innovative development you can expect from such games IMO.

That's basically all I have to say about this game. If you are looking for a completely casual experience, that can be found here. If you are looking for anything else at all or have the expectation of some cool factor the title implies exists, don't bother. Personally, I was not impressed. It's barely Solitaire and doesn't even bother trying to live up to its name. There are better and much more fun Solitaire options on Steam that actually respect your time and money.

Agreed. There are actual fun titles out there to enjoy rather than wasting one's time with this one.

There's so many Solitaire games that do it better than this. I wouldn't touch this one anyway as it has no achievements.
