Stunning visuals, music, and character design. Probably the coolest and most stylized fight sequences of any JRPG to date with combat that was surprisingly challenging and engaging even on regular difficulty. Somewhat clunky controls paired with a rather awkward camera perspective and map geometry made navigating and moving around unwieldy at times. Probably the most frustrating parts of the game were the maze sequences which were unnecessarily convoluted and confusing. Despite these issues it was overall an extremely enjoyable, surprisingly lengthy game with an singularly unique art direction. The OST alone makes Hylics 2 worth the price.
