This game is so much fun! Great puzzles, fun combat, and an overall really great vibe. Plus there's lots of secrets hidden all over the world! Highly recommended.

I went into this expecting another mindless 2D platformer with nice art... it was so much more than that! Great pixel animations, a fantastic synth soundtrack, Hotline Miami style quick respawn so it feels difficult but not frustrating, a gritty cyberpunk setting, tons of psychological tricks in the story, gripping questions, time altering mechanics, a super cool samurai... Katana Zero checks just about every single one of my boxes!

The story is so much deeper than I expected and the world has a really interesting backstory that I'm dying to learn more about. I also love the context. Rather than just having a cool time mechanic, they work it into the story as a key plot point... and there are real consequences for using it!

Seriously great game that you definitely shouldn't sleep on. It's quite possibly my favorite game of 2019. Check it out!

This is like Legacy of Goku but in 3D. It is much more RPG-like than any of the recent entries. Yes it's another Raditz to Buu story, but it's probably the best it has ever been told in video game form. You really get a sense of being inside the Dragon Ball world. There is a lot of attention to side characters and small little plot points from the series. If you're not already into DBZ, this might not be the thing to win you over. But if you're already a Dragon Ball fan, I absolutely recommend this game. It's different enough from Xenoverse and FighterZ that it's totally worth adding to your collection.

By far my favorite game I played this year! The art is fantastic, the story is entertaining, and the gameplay is very fresh and innovative. Best of all there are tons of interesting characters to add to your party and many of them have totally unique abilities that change the entire way the game is played. The dialogue is also really well written and legitimately more funny than I expected. Give this game a try, you definitely won't regret it!

Early Access Review
This game is a ton of fun. And the pricing model is really interesting (the earlier you buy it, the cheaper it is). Banana Besties for life!

I normally don't expect a whole lot out of anime games, but Pirate Warriors 3 blew my expectations away. I have played plenty of other One Piece games but none of them capture the spirit of the series quite as well as this one does. Being able to plow down massive armies of enemies while unleashing unique devil fruit powers is what One Piece is all about! There are a ton of playable characters and most of them have very different play styles.

I wouldn't call the graphics amazing, but they fit the style of One Piece well. The story is told through both cutscenes and "talking heads." It's pretty cool to see the familiar story unfold in game format, and they have faithfully recreated many scenes from the series in 3D (even right down to some of the more memorable manga panels).

The music is decent and it seems to fit the style of One Piece, but it gets a bit repetitive and doesn't hold up to the soundtrack of the anime. (There is a way to replace the music so check out the forums if it's something that's really important to you). I was also very happy to discover that the original Japanese voice actors from the anime are present, so that really adds to the experience. Clearly you won't grasp the full 900ish episode story line over the course of the game, but it covers the basic plot points well and I think even people who don't follow the series super closely can appreciate the story.

Outside of the main story mode, there is also a 'Dream Log' that gives you more freedom in your character selection. It has different scenarios for you to complete and it adds a ton of replay value to try and unlock all the characters. Think of it as being in the same spirit as Event Mode from Super Smash Bros.

Overall, I would highly recommend this game. If you are a fan of One Piece or Musou games, this will be right up your alley. It is one of my favorite anime games and the best video game representation of One Piece that I have ever found!

This game is incredible! Snatcher is one of my favorite games of all time, and Read Only Memories is without a doubt the closest thing I've ever played to a true successor. It uses its cyberpunk setting well and crafts together a really interesting story. The artwork is fantastic and really captures the essence of the era. It's got great music, unique characters, and a plot that will keep you guessing the whole time.

The gameplay itself is pretty straightforward, but there are 6 different endings for you to find, so there is definitely some room for player choice. In traditional adventure game fashion, you can interatct with all sorts of different objects, and if you're like me, you'll easily spend a ton of time laughing at all of the amusing dialogue that comes about from trying to give spoiled milk to people and talk to desks. What trumps even that for me though are the deep characters and overall atmosphere that the game conveys. It really captures the essence of cyberpunk and it couldn't make me happier.

A lot of people are giving this game bad reviews because of the social message that it conveys. It's true that the game goes out of its way to be pro LGBT and call out discrimination, but I personally didn't feel like that got in the way of the game too much. Considering the game takes place decades in the future, it's not too unrealistic that society would be a lot more accepting of these social taboos. The topic may be a bit too heavy for some, but I think it aligns with the setting of the game just fine.

Best of all, Read Only Memories knows how to do demos the right way. Not only is there a free version that lets you play the prologue, but it even lets you play most of chapter 1 as well! And better yet, your save data from the demo carries over to the full game. So if you're at all curious, give it a try. If you're like me, you won't be able to stop there!

Overall, Read Only Memories was one of the best games I played all year. It's a true love letter to not only Snatcher, but classic adventure games and the cyberpunk genre in general. I don't want to get too caught up on the comparison, but since we'll likely never see a real Snatcher sequel, this is by far the next best thing. I couldn't recommend this game more. Check it out!

I bought this game for a couple bucks during a sale and figured it would be a neat little time waster. What I got was so much more than that! To me the most important factor of a good game is something a bit intangible - the mood and atmosphere.
And boy does Anodyne deliver in that regard.

The tone is mostly set by the super eerie and mysterious music. But the whole game feels like some kind of profound experience as you travel through this almost dream-like world. The game play is like old-school Zelda, the dry humor is reminscent of EarthBound, and the whole thing will make you feel like you stepped into a time portal to the 1990s. I've only played a couple hours so far and I'm already in love. If you enjoy games with interesting atmospheres, this one is definitely for you!

I haven't felt this emotional about a game in a long time! I will admit, this game brought me close to tears by the time it was all over. The characters are so well written that it will break your heart when you need to choose between them. And trust me, some of the decisions you will make will break your heart. Yeah the puzzles are pretty easy and there isn't a whole lot of actual gameplay, but if you're a supporter of games with excellent storytelling, you need to check out The Walking Dead. This game blows the comics and TV show out of the water!
