Hell Divers 2 promised to soar to even greater heights than its predecessor, offering an exhilarating blend of high-flying action and intense combat. However, what could have been a triumphant sequel is instead marred by a series of missteps, primarily revolving around its patch releases and the prevalence of broken content.

One of the most frustrating aspects of Hell Divers 2 is the inconsistency in its patch releases. Rather than addressing issues promptly, the developers seem content to let problems fester, leaving players to grapple with game-breaking bugs and glitches for far too long. Whether it's crashes during crucial moments of gameplay or progression-halting errors, the frequency and severity of these issues undermine the overall experience.

Furthermore, even when patches are finally deployed, they often fail to fully resolve the issues at hand. Instead, they introduce new problems or exacerbate existing ones, creating a vicious cycle of frustration for players who are eager for a smoother, more polished experience. It's disheartening to see a game with such potential continually stumble over its own technical shortcomings.

Beyond the patching woes, Hell Divers 2 suffers from a plethora of broken content that detracts from its otherwise engaging gameplay. From weapons that fail to function as intended to missions that are impossible to complete due to glitches, the game is rife with instances where players are left feeling cheated out of their time and effort. This lack of polish not only diminishes the immersion but also erodes the trust between the developers and their player base.

The game is simply not yet ready for launch. It has early access written all over it. As someone with nearly 800 hours in Vermintide 2. This feels like a downgrade.

The good.

-Gameplay loop

The Bad.

-Buggy, secondary missions not working, objectives stuck in the map, crashes.
-Only 4 characters versus the vermintide 5 that also comes with 3 subclasses for each. So a total of 15 classes vs the darktide 4.
-Performance, unless you have a new generation card expect serious frame dibs in the low 40's. (1080ti here)
-Forced mmo lobby that serves no purpose in a 4 player game beyond making people want to buy from the paid cosmetic shop. While also adding a ♥♥♥♥ ton to your loading time for no gain whatsoever.
-Predatory paid cosmetic shop mechanics.
-Random maps only, want to play a certain map? Tough.
-No solo support yet.
-A bunch of features are "coming soon" like crafting.

I could go on about the poorly designed weeklies or the anti teamwork achievements. If you're new to a tide game? Just skip on this and go play vermintide 2 instead. Its the superior game in every way possible.
Vermintide 2 launched at a pre-order price of 28 euro with more content.

Despite all its flaws regarding performance, its still the best military sim out there with a lot of mod support to keep you going for many years to come.

Fun game but not worth buying yet.

No queue with friends system in place (supposedly coming soon, but shoulda have been there already). As it stands it penalizes people who wanna play with friends and solo play due to people trying to group up through trial and error.
Can't customize keys or mouse sense.
Buggy, sometimes the game doesnt load, joining a lobby can be flakey.
You can get stuck as the hunter, forcing you to resign etc.
Ranked system makes no sense, hunter leaving will penalize the survivors.
Poor performance. Running this game on lowest on my 7950 i5-3570 @4.4ghz. Shouldnt run this ♥♥♥♥ for the way it looks.

I wrote this entire review while I was queud up as hunter waiting for people to join. People are constantly joining and leaving due to "no queue with friends".
So yeah, expect long waiting times before you can play as hunter.

All round, I quite enjoy the game but it feels more like an early access game. I highly recommend picking it up once the above has been fixed.

Simple RTS to pick up. Great mindless fun with plenty of tactics to keep you occupied for months to come.
