DARKNESS OVER DAGGERFORD = 10-09-2024.
After around 2 days & 10 hours total (58 hours) with the NWN Premium Modules so far altogether (KingMaker, ShadowGuard & now Darkness Over Daggerford), another is here in the books. Finished-up NWN's Darkness Over Daggerford paid-DLC, which is absolutely nothing short of awesome & epic, all over its approximate 47 hour run-time with me. As usual, it took me a lot longer than most probably with tackling this - with deaths, more deaths, even more deaths, saves, reloads, and of course taking my good old time. This isn't certainly an easy DLC by any means - and even given that, it still rocks. The story stuff, character stuff, huge & sprawling areas, and side quests are all meaty and often do have decisions to them, which will matter.

NWN was a huge transitional from 2D to 3D here - but also, a lot of 3D gaming CRPG stuff seems here, which is now common-place in BioWare games here: 3D cinematic-style cut-scenes, banter, interactions with NPC's/party members, and lots of really good voice-acting. Simply put: a lot of what we loved about other BioWare 3D CRPG masterpieces like Dragon Age: Origins (DA:O or DAO) feels here front & center, all here in this epic DLC - even though this is from Ossian Studios. Also, there's a return of the Overland Map that you've seen from BioWare's Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, which is great to see here in NWN - so that you can travel from place-to-place, which you'll also see in DA:O.

Daggerford is having all kinds of problems in their City and around it: a missing Duke, caravans being attacked, a sickness going around the city, and more. This isn't even the time of the iceberg here, as this is just the start of things. There's also all kinds of problems, conspiracies, madness, and other things going on in the City and outside of it. You have lots of main missions and side quests to tackle here, in typical CRPG fashion here, in this DLC from Ossian Studios. You & your squad (you can have up to 2 companions, in typical BioWare NWN fashion since Hordes expansion) to get to the bottom of this all, if possible.

With an epic story, cool characters, really good story, and epic finale for a final mission and also boss fight - which is hard as heck too, I might add - Daggerford DLC is nothing short of awesome. It's epic, awesome - and so far, the only piece of NWN content that I probably prefer over this so far is the excellent Hordes of the Underdark expansion...and likely, it isn't by that much.

Daggerford DLC is absolutely must play stuff here for NWN.

BONUS SECTION - REVIEWS FOR OTHER DLC's IN NWN: EE's BASE PACKAGE = 10-09-2024:
So, I really don't want to re-review & re-edit my NWN: EE base-package review over there, which is already super-long as it is & says plenty. To add to that and all: there's a bunch of Premium Modules/DLC's like KingMaker & ShadowGuard, which I've already tackled - so, I'm just going to stick them here in the Daggerford DLC review section here, since they'll fit & also b/c my Daggerford DLC Review ain't super long.

NWN: ENHANCED EDITION - PREMIUM MODULE / DLC REVIEWS = 09-24-2024.
INTRO...ON NWN EE's DLC's & PREMIUM MODULES:
So, I've been tackling some Premium Modules/DLC's for NeverWinter Nights: Enhanced Edition (NWN:EE), so...let's go. Here's some of my thoughts & all.

SHADOWGUARD DLC = 9-14-2024:
So...tonight, I finished-up the ShadowGuard DLC here, which took around 4 1/2 hours or so for NwN: EE (NeverWinter Nights: Enhanced Edition). So, ShadowGuard (SG) actually is pretty good, to say the least - but feels like while some stuff gets wrapped-up, there should be another chapter here. Doesn't feel like everything gets wrapped-up here, as some stuff feels over...but feels like there could be more; a lot more.

This is typical NWN stuff & BioWare stuff here, with really good writing, some good voice-acting when it's there, and whatnot. Combat's the usual real-time NWN stuff, so it's fine and all; and you often have one companion with you, when you do have someone with you. Basically, you graduate from a school for adventurers & warriors, your dad is a key figure in this City where you're at, and there's problems in the City that you have to tackle.

There's some good & strong side quests plot-wise and also some problems that are some personal stuff, along to go with what feels like is an epic story. It's pretty good, like I said - but it feels like this really needs a ShadowGuard 2, since once it really gets going, it goes...but never ends. Sadly, a sequel likely won't happen properly from BioWare officially or even some fan to make a module on their own to wrap up some loose ends.

KINGMAKER DLC = 09-24-2024.
I had around 11 hours total with NWN and some of its DLC's so far, after SG - as I've messed around with other DLC's before. After about 19 1/2 hours or so with other DLC & game content, SG & Kingmaker DLC altogether so far - well, I finished-up Kingmaker DLC, which was even better than SG. This one also, in the long run, feels more Complete than SG - which certainly helps, of course - as things wrap-up much more nicely here, compared to SG.

This took me a bit longer, as it was harder for my character (Rogue) & probably with the way I played & character that I used, when compared to SG. This DLC took me around 5 1/2 to finish on run-through #2, as I abandoned ship on 1st attempt (around 14 hours in) and started again. This DLC's good, but tough - and I'm not sure if it's my build, how I played, this being an older game (some of these are hard & tough even on default difficulties & all), and/or whatever...but I got through on my 2nd time.

A Keep gets attacked & you are trying to stop "The Masked Man" & his crew from trying to take it over entirely. You try to fulfill your destiny to stop this Masked Man from taking it & also winning over those from the Keep, as you can take it over. Stuff happens and then you and your companions have to go and drive these enemies out of there, without giving too much away here. You also politic your way at this Keep and do a bunch of side quests, have a Cool Talking Weapon, and some really good side quests here, besides tackling the main ones - and often some choices , too.

In the end, it was a really good DLC. I really enjoyed it & felt satisfied by the end, especially with its storytelling & writing, some really good twists in it (both epic and personal), voice-acting (when its there), and some good choices.

Definitely worth playing this KingMaker DLC.

Enjoyed reading this!
I am playing the NWN original campaign at the moment and plan on going through all of the extra campaigns right after. I have a lot to look forward to it seems.
Thanks for this excellent review
