This game took a beating on metacritic for certain gameplay and design elements, and while it took questionable approaches to some things, it wasn't afraid to stand up and be different. Some of them helped the game tremendously, and some took away from it, but at the end of the day Remember Me is very worth suffering through some annoyances of extremely linear level design, janky cutscenes and weird memory replay mechanics for a fantastic story with great characters in an undeniably gorgeous world.

Highlights

Remember Me includes incredibly gorgeous detailed environments and backdrops, and a very metropolitan, urbane feel to everything, a style which wouldn't be felt again until games like Deus Ex: Human Revolution

* Detailed NPCs add life to the environment. You'll often stop to eaves drop on NPCs engaging each other or having a conversation
* Interesting characters and especially very interesting bosses with personality which also help to add a dimension of challenge
* One of the best asses in video games

Mistakes

Remember Me stands up above many other games with some incredible design and production value, so it's painful and frustrating when something doesn't feel as well done as the other design elements. The extremely linear nature of the world, for example, feels like such a pain in the ass because of all the fantastic depth and beauty in everything else.

* The combat is unique and very good when understood, but the game does an awful job of explaining and guiding the player to use the system, and you can easily play through the entire game without ever fully coming to terms with the combat
* Some of the cut scene elements are un-skippable and just plain annoying at times

Recommendations

Remember Me clocks in at 10 hours of play time, and has a lower price point than most triple A titles, but at £22.99/27.99€/$29.99 it might be more than most should pay, considering the very dividing gameplay structure. When on sale, it's a real bargain, and worth the risk. It routinely goes -75% or more.

* The game was originally designed, under Sony, to play more like Assassin's Creed, and a much more open world and was then rolled back by EDGE due to the smaller story, and to help fit the story https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=68&v=4oFzeVYk7Is
* The Combo Lab Pack DLC adds a couple of extra fight moves which makes customizing your attacks mildly easier and more interesting but honestly adds nothing to the game overall for anyone other than committed fans.
* Remember Me was developed by DONTNOD Entertainment, who would later go on to create Life is Strange
* Plays a bit better with a controller, but a Keyboard plays fine too
