This game makes me sad. It has so much potential. Given the game has two drastically different modes I will review it that way.

Dungeons and combat: The environments are very pretty and are entertaining enough to get around. There is a weird problem with per room difficulty. Some rooms have up to 4 waves of enemies and some have 2 blobs. It isnt directly related to rarity of the room items it is just a bit inconsistent. The perks are fun when you have good enough luck to string together good ones, but I find myself going on long streaks of really poor perk drops that make the bosses a slog. THE BOSSES. They do not belong in this game at all. They are wonderfully animated and have interesting gimmicks but they are not made to be re-fought over and over. These ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ spend roughly 40 -60% of the fight where they cannot be meaningfully hit. Sometimes it is a complete mechanic shift where you have to dodge or hit back objects, other time they just fly all over the place or go invulnerable. They are fun to get through once, but there is too much dodging or playing catch up to make me want to fight them again and again.

The Shop and loot: Loot is only in chests at the end of rooms now, which to me is a downgrade. They have fun inventory gimmicks that (although I enjoy) I could see someone getting fed up with. You can spend 5 minutes after a room just rearranging and min-maxing your inventory. The shop seems weirdly easy. I cant say I ever had a "bad day". Everything will sell eventually and finding a reasonable price is almost automated. Seems like missed potential.

I intentionally didnt play this in early access, but something went wrong in the feedback stage. Either the devs ignored a significant amount of feedback or they listened, and ran with, way too much feedback. This game feels like a really solid dish at a restaurant that has just been way overly seasoned and presented in an odd way. It has a great core but it doesnt work on the plate.

There has been a string of indie-darling rougelites that have came out with sequels lately. Darkest dungeon, Wizard of Legend , Moonligher, Hades. I loved each of their first entries and spent a lot of time with them. I have found myself disappointed with almost each and every sequel. Im not sure if that says more about them or me, but it seems that finding the right things to iterate on for a sequel is tough in this specific space. Or maybe the formula just isnt fresh anymore. Either way, I hope the devs all the best their next time around.

PS this game does not run great.

Its not the most stable or well optimized game, but it has heart. Its a great star wars story with fun mechanics that makes me want to start another run. Good game.

A very charming, focused 3d platformer and collectathon that very much has some DNA in it from old gamecube games. Nothing too challenging but the heartfelt tone through the whole game kept me going until credits.

A fun, charming throwback to the GBA . It has very similar vibes to the Minish Cap. Puzzles are fun enough to solve without being frustrating. Gameplay is is snappy and satisfying. Your main wepon is a yoyo and they get every inch possible out of that concept. The story was a lot more charming than I expected. My one complaint is that the art of the main characters is a bit too busy to translate well to spritework. I am looking forward to what the developer puts out next.
