I am new to Dark Souls III but have played it quite a bit since I got it last week. This is such a fun and addictive game - but very stressful. I am not much of an RPG player, mostly strategy and simulations, but wow - this game is a kick in the balls and I love it. It's so hard, that I feel I am going to take a very long time to complete it. This is a game for someone who likes a challenge in life. Be prepared for blood, sweat in tears.... and slow progress! Unless you're a pro/DS veteran or generally awesome at gaming. You really cannot play reckless in this game, every single point of HP must be valued.

Moreover, Dark Souls III immerses you in this cold, vile world where you feel so alone. The art is fantastic, with some of the most messed up creatures I've ever encountered in gaming. The noises they make, way they move and come at you is spine-chilling. The difficulty of the bosses and ordinary mobs gives you a feeling of helplessness and of pure evil and power. It's a place of sheer nightmares and you're there to kill everything.

I done some research on the story so far in Dark Souls, because you don't get told a huge amount, and there isn't a lot to guide you on the way. This, however, just adds further to this desolate, cold world you are in where you know nothing about anything, and just have to power on through against all odds.

I have been playing as the cleric class, which appears to be some sort of paladin type thing. I use a mace, shield and plate armour to smash my way through the hideous beings I encounter. I also have a couple of spells to heal myself, smash back people and throw a spear of light at them. The spells take longer to cast, so you need to play tactfully.

One thing I don't like about the game, as a new player, was how everything is designed and displayed on screen for a controller. You do just need to learn keybinds. However, there is a boss, Stray Demon, where you don't seem to be able to escape its grasp (perhaps someone can tell me if I'm wrong) unless you have L2+R2 or something. I might end up getting a controller and using it, but don't fancy paying for it. The game is still completely playable without it.

I think everyone needs to try this game. I've never played anything like it before. It's the best thing I've played in a long, long time... if not the most stressful. Totally hooked.

America is an irradiated wasteland. Within it lies a city. Outside the boundary walls, a desert. A cursed earth. Inside the walls, a cursed city, stretching from Boston to Washington D.C. An unbroken concrete landscape. 800 million people living in the ruin of the old world and the mega structures of the new one. Mega blocks. Mega highways. Mega City One. Convulsing. Choking. Breaking under its own weight. Citizens in fear of the street. The gun. The gang. Only one thing fighting for order in the chaos: the men and women of the Hall of Justice. Juries. Executioners. Judges.
