Not perfect and still missing the mark for the best of the best (MW2 2009), but still decent enough to grab more of my attention then the last few years of CoD games. Keep going in this direction Activision, and bring back classic Prestige, thanks.

Early Access Review
Easy Anti Chat

Edit: At least this made them add all the stuff we always wanted in base game in a matter of weeks. Changed rating to positive.

All I ever wanted was BF3/4 with the fidelity of BF1/V.

DCS World
Short review and things I just want to write down

Firstly, of course I am biased since this game gives me what I love more than anything. But one still can not ignore the extensive combat environment this game can provide.
This is not for the light hearted and pick-up and play type of user.
There will be a long amount of time spend troubleshooting, setting things up, remapping controls and flipping through manuals.
It can be a love hate relationship if you will.
Steep learning curve, but once you peaked over the initial premise, you begin to learn things much quicker. A patient and relaxed mind is optimal.

Misconception and creating your own fun

People seem to have a misunderstanding of the word ‘Module’ and misconceive it as a DLC. Which you are right to assume so, but I would like you to take a step back and think about what a single Module would have to offer, if you put in the time and made use of the full potential.

If you look a bit more into it, you will find that DCS did not used to be what it is today. Overlooking the Lock On series right now, the so-called Module A-10C for example, used to be a standalone game of which you could buy a disk in your local game store. It is just that one aircraft, no extensions available. You get what you bought.
DCS was wrapped around it after some time to give the ability to use all previously created games in a singular platform. So, thinking of the aircraft as expensive DLC, is really the wrong way of looking at it. And one would be very ignorant to dismiss what I just mentioned.
The people that say that each DCS game is overpriced, probably buy modern triple A titles from EA with the season pass… yeah, cool season pass man.

Such examples of the previously mentioned ‘full potential’ would be, getting to know the mission editor and creating an epic scenario just for you to explore and fiddle around in. How about some multiplayer instead to do some hands-on air combat? You are also free to download any mission other people have created, with some being very great and extensive. Just to study a plane in and out is a joyride in itself!

Of course, the bane of unlimited fun can lie in long sessions with friends. Big setup, calculated operation lead, until finally the pay off once you took care of the mission objective and head back home.
All that aside, one can also just find pleasure in taking leisure flights around the beautiful crafted maps. You create your own game.

Problems and improving them

Looking past all that, there are of course some issues I want to address. I saw another person’s review and couldn’t agree nor disagree. Problems mentioned where very real, yet only just things that should be considered a luxury, and not standard.

Such problems include, the interface and control setup of the game not being the greatest. It is not intuitive at first and has many missing features that lead to the user having to unplug controllers or setting up the exact same feature multiple times over different modules.
Just luxury to be honest, yet something that could be fixed very quickly.

There are a lot of small details such as monitor setup and binding names that could use a makeover. But that is not my main reason of bringing this up.
The person in question also made the point of, why not improve all of this instead of release new modules all the time.
And I thought to myself, everyone wants new modules to have more toys to play around with. And it takes a very long time till new things come out as well. I am of the same nature.
But I must agree that it would be nice if the development team could lay off from modules a bit, and just get to fix every little thing they can find with the user interface, control binding devices and keystroke names. Creating more extensive tutorials which should cover start-up, taxi, take off and landing. Formation flight would be awesome too. Things like that.

Now my main reason for me to agree is, that the team could improve things that I didn’t even know I wanted to be improved! That is the real stroke in this for me. They could do so much more if they would take some time off modules.
Which they already have! The new update to the Caucasus map. Revamping the user interface. Engine upgrade. And so on..

So, they are always working on their solid foundation. I guess one is just being selfish and want’s more of this oh so beautiful piece of software))

~Honestly just wanted to see more positive, or at least well thought out reviews on steam, so I’m leaving my synopsis here! xoxoxo
