Review based on playtest; game not yet on Steam.

When I first played Titan Quest back in 2006, I was instantly hooked. The mix of mythology, epic adventure, and satisfying hack & slash combat kept me immersed in the world of ancient gods and titans for hours. Now, years later, I had the chance to take a first look at Titan Quest II as a playtester – and what can I say? It feels like coming home.

Within the first few minutes, memories started flooding back. The world, the creatures, the atmosphere – it’s like Titan Quest never left. Harpies screech, centaurs lurk, griffins dive from the skies. And yet, it’s not just more of the same. Enemies are smarter, combat is more demanding, and the gameplay feels much more refined. I had to adjust my tactics, dodge, counter – not just mindlessly swing my weapon.

What I particularly loved: Character development is just as flexible as before but offers even more meaningful choices. The combination of masteries encourages experimentation, and I can already see myself testing countless builds. Every loot drop, every weapon feels significant – no pointless filler, just gear that truly serves a purpose.

The world itself is a real highlight. Where the first game was more linear, there’s so much more to discover here. Hidden locations, optional boss fights, secrets around every corner – exactly the kind of exploration I enjoy. I feel like it’s actually rewarding to stray from the beaten path.

Of course, there are still rough edges – it’s a playtest, after all. Some animations aren’t quite polished, there are minor issues here and there, and I hope they’ll fine-tune performance. But the foundation is solid, and what I’ve seen so far gives me high hopes.

For me, Titan Quest II already feels like a worthy successor. It has the familiarity of the original while bringing enough fresh ideas to pull me right back in. If the full game delivers on what it’s already showing, I’ll be sinking countless hours into it. And honestly? I can’t wait to jump back in.

Hi. Do you know if, as in Grim Dawn, it will be able to pick just one mastery and focus on it to empower it´s style?

This looks like a fun game... The Music captured me immediately:music: And the character customisation sounds great by your description! More open world...what's not to like! I'm following and will probably add to my wishlist. Thank you for the review!:1heart:
