Check out a few screenshots or a few minutes of a playthrough on YouTube and you'll get a good idea of whether the humor is your style or not. It's nonstop puns -- some obvious, some clever and unexpected -- Chekhov's punchlines, and reference humor, all delivered with a laid-back style where the writer's obviously confident enough to not be particularly concerned whether or not you get the joke, which I love. I do wish there was a log to review past dialogue, since sometimes on replaying I clicked too fast past stuff I'd already seen and ended up missing something new.

The art style's great, a perfect example of stylized "bad" art being much more interesting than subpar or generic "good" art. Everything being black and white can make the screen glaringly bright, but that's easily fixed with "nostalgia mode" or just turning down the brightness in the game settings.

The main quest is linear and quite short, but there's plenty of wandering, side quests, secrets, and lots of variety in dialogue (although not so much in actual quest options) depending on your different companions. Unfortunately the lack of a quest log or journal can be a real drag, making it hard to keep track of things like which secret room is in which mine. And while it's fun to just wander around with different character builds and items and see what new options unlock, some of the secrets are so specific and obscure that they're kind of tedious to unlock even with a guide.

The combat also isn't terribly strategic or balanced. You'll get one-shotted a lot in the early game when your stats are low, and you'll one-shot enemies a lot in the late game when your stats are high, and you'll end up amassing a lot of combat items that aren't very useful and a lot of potions you can't use because you're limited to so many a day. The game's writing is entertaining enough to make up for the underwhelming combat, but it definitely feels like an afterthought.
