(This is my first actual review on steam so I apologize if my review isn't really structured well)

I'm still disappointed I didn't really like this game all much. I really liked most of the Madness Combat episodes and I still really enjoy playing Madness: Accelerant, so when I first saw the trailers I was really excited to play it.

There are a lot of things I really like about this game; the music by Chesyre and Locknar is awesome, the visuals and art style look sick, the voice actors did a great job when voicing all the characters, and some of the boss fights like Gil and Ghoul were really fun to fight against. But I think the things I dislike about this game really outweigh the good. I found the story to be really uninteresting; most of the dialogue is just exposition about the plot. Playing it genuinely made me think whether or not having story in Madness Combat was a good idea. The combat also does get repetitive after a while, especially the melee combat which was why I didn't really enjoy most of the boss fights (although I do have to admit it is fun throwing weapons at enemies and seeing their heads explode). I should clarify that I didn't fully playthrough the Arena mode, so maybe the combat does get better in that mode.

Also can we talk about the ending? Not to say cliffhangers are bad (the ending for Madness Combat 6 is a cliffhanger I really like), its just that the ending for this game is really unsatisfying after everything that has happened. And who thought it was a good idea to make frickin Hank J. Wimbleton the EASIEST boss in the story mode??

Overall, Madness: Project Nexus (technically Project Nexus 2) is a decent game, but I only recommend it if you are a fan of the Madness Combat series. It's sad I wasn't able to love this game but hey, maybe your experience will be different than mine. If they do make a sequel to this game, whether it'd be a dlc or Madness: Project Nexus 3, I will be interested in checking it out.
